The season is about to end with the final GW of the season upon us now. That are some teams that have everything to play for and some teams with nothing to play for but incredible fixtures

Teams that are battling for the UCL, UEL and conference league places:

Newcastle United
Chelsea
Aston Villa
Manchester City
Nottingham Forest

Teams that have nothing to play for but have amazing fixtures:

Bou vs Lei (H)
WHU v Ips (A)
Ars v Sou (A)

The final GW of the season historically in the PL has been a very high scoring one compared to the GW1-37 fixtures

Goals scored per matchday between GW1-37 in the PL:

2019-20 : 28
2020-21 : 27
2021-22 : 28
2022-23 : 28
2023-24 : 32

Goals scored on matchday GW38 in the PL:

2019-20 : 33
2020-21 : 33
2021-22 : 39
2022-23 : 33
2023-24 : 37

The final GW of the season historically has produced more goals than the last 5 GWs

I would therefore recommend not making any defensive transfers as there are not many clean sheets on the final day and the upside with a defender is not much.

1. Arsenal

They have absolutely nothing to play for but they face the worst defence in the league in the final GW of the season. Though Southampton have improved massively in defence but they still are a fixture to target, I see slight rotation for Arsenal as a legitimate possibility. We may get some team leaks or news as all the games are at the same time.

🥇 Saka: Clearly the best Arsenal asset and could be the best captaincy option if he starts Since coming back from his injury he has been in pretty bad form but he has accumulated 3.12 xGI in the last 5GWs with no goals or assist to his name. He has been pretty unlucky given the underlying data but has to be in your team if he starts.

🥈 Martinelli: A slightly more in form option and a great differential specially if you are chasing a rank or your mini league. 2 goals in the last 5 GWs and Southampton generally conceded a big volume of chances and shots on their right hand side where Martinelli operates.

2. Aston Villa

Probably the only team in the league who have a great fixture and also have something to play for. It’s an absolute must win games for them if they want to have any chance of getting the UCL qualification for next season. They play a United team whose focus is solely on winning the Europa League which is 3 days before the GW38 game and are likely to field a very weak XI vs Villa.

🥇 Watkins: If you don’t own him you should probably consider buying him. He has 2 goals and 2 assists in the last 5GWs despite playing very limited minutes in a few of those games. Man united also have conceded 3 goals in the last 5GWs to strikers which increases the prospects of Watkins.

🥈 Rogers: He has blanked just 2 times in the last 8 GWs getting 6 assists and a goal as well. A decent midfielder to consider if you are targeting a weaker fixture.

3. Bournemouth

They play a team which have kept just 2 clean sheets in the last 25 GWs and just 3 clean sheets all season so far with 1 game to go. Bournemouth’s home record is pretty average compared to their insane away record this season but Leicester is still a prime fixtures to target.

🥇 Evanilson : The best Bournemouth attacker and Forward to get in general. He has a goal and an assist in the last 5 GWs and plays a Leicester team who have conceded 6 goals in the last 10 GWs to strikers.

🥈 Semenyo: In form with 2 goals and an assist in the last 5 GWs, he is the best Midfielder to own for the final GW alongside Jarrod Bowen. Between him and Kluivert I would go for Semenyo with the better xMins. Kluivert’s injury hasn’t helped his cause and he keeps getting benched in that odd game which you can’t afford on the final day.

4. West Ham United

No reason to talk about the whole team, because Jarrod Bowen is actually the whole team. The best midfielder to own for the final GW. 4 goals and 2 assists in the last 5 GWs and just 4 blanks in the last 15 GWs. He is a genuine captaincy option vs IPS who have been the worst defence in the last 5 GWs and pretty much all season too.
