• Villa have a singular focus and that is to get Champions League football next season. They will go with their strongest XI.
• Maatsen starts over Digne. He has started 4 of the last 6 and against a likely weakened Spurs XI, the youngster gets the nod.
• The rest of the team essentially picks itself with Tielemans and Rashford injured and Ramsey suspended after his red card last GW.
• Maatsen could start on the wing instead of McGinn but I’d expect Villa’s captain to get the nod and Malen is a great option off the bench if Villa need a goal.

• This is essentially the team Ange has been picking for weeks in the league, especially once Maddison and Bergvall were lost for the season.

• Ndiaye and McNeil replaced Alcaraz and Harrison last week off the bench and Everton scored their opener minutes later. Safe to assume both will start ahead of their competition.

• Paqueta is dealing with a lot of news around his potential looming suspension and his future. Unlikely he’s in the mental space to start.
• Fullkrug could come back into the starting lineup if there was a formation change but it never seemed like Potter truly favoured him and sees him as a locked in starter when fit.

• Trippier will miss this game as he did last weekends. Howe spoke on the his veteran fullback revealing “Kieran I don’t think will be fit for this weekend but again it’s not a big injury, a very minor calf problem”.
• Botman and Willock have more of a chance to suit up but it still seems like even making the bench for both of them would be a positive. Seems very unlikely either start. Howe on Willock said “Joe – we’ll leave the door open for him, I think he’s got a slight chance”. On Botman, Howe said “It was a knock, he got a bang on his knee. We’re not sure about Sven’s availability for the weekend but we’ll give him a chance to be fit.” Given he’s coming off an ACL and this isn’t his first injury since he returned, Howe will likely opt to be cautious.
• Newcastle could either stick with the back 5 they went with in GW36 with Emil Krafth coming in for Botman, or go with the 4-3-3 Howe has preferred for the large majority of this season with Miley or Longstaff starting in midfield.
• Given I think Miley and Longstaff are both much better players thatn Krafth, and 4-3-3 has been what Howe has preferred, I’ll lean that way with Murphy starting at RB.

• Difficult to predict Slot’s lineup for this game given it’s not at Anfield, and he certainly is tinkering with some tacitcal ideas for next season. However I think after a loss and a draw, Slot will go strong and look to finish the season strong on 89 points.
• Mac Allister was rested last week so he returns to the starting lineup this week. I think it is likely one of the midfield 3 is given a rest, and that’s likely Szobszlai. Jones comes in to play the 10 role in his place.
• Diaz could certainly start up-front again but after a criminal miss of an early chance against Arsenal, and for rotation and rest purposes also, Jota could start.

• City, like Palace will either be coming off celebrating an FA Cup Final win or ruing the loss. A more experienced City side who have already won the FA Cup are less likely to celebrate the victory in a manner that would rule most starters out of Tuesday’s league game (by getting absolutely hammered). And if they lose, they’ve lost bigger games before. So while I expect some rotation, I expect less rotation from Pep given they still need points to confirm Champions League football next season.
• I am expecting Nunes, Dias, Gundogan, Silva, De Bruyne and Haaland to all start the FA Cup Final, and then to be rested on Tuesday given those players either have very capable deputies or their minutes need to be managed coming off recent injuries.
• Gvardiol, Marmoush and potentially Kovacic are the players I think may start the Final and then go again Tuesday.
• This gives the perfect opportunity to bed in Nico Gonzalez further in an important game, and give Foden minutes.
