Gameweek 36: SamFPL’s Key Questions

As the season intensifies, so to do the FPL dilemmas. Which of Wissa, Wood or Cunha do we most want to own? Should we be making a move from Saka to De Bruyne? And do we keep or sell Marmoush, Mateta, Arsenal Defenders and Isak? SamFPL has you covered on all of these key questions and more!

Finally we’ve reached the final stage of the season, 3 GWs need different strategy, and you should decide

  • Are you chasing and need more differentials?
  • Are you leading and need to save it?
  • It’s a 3 GW plan rather than a single blinded transfer.
  • Target teams, assets still have something left to fight for.

Wissa, Wood or Cunha?

Both Wissa and Wood face relegated teams this week which makes them more appealing than Cunha because of their higher ceiling. However, I believe we shouldn’t underestimate Cunha as he scored against BHA earlier this season and faces Cry in GW37 just 3 days following their FA cup final. he can get decent score over the next 3 weeks and outscore any of them in this period.

  • Wood is a penalty taker while Wissa has better individual and team form by 4 goals in his last 4 PL matches.
  • I think both are great targets and should return in this game week but I’m leaning personally towards Wissa due to his better fixtures in GW37-38. Being 3-week oriented is my current strategy.
  • Cunha is on my watchlist for the final 2 weeks as well!

Saka to De Bruyne?

In recent weeks, De Bruyne has started regularly and has flourished during the absence of Haaland and played in a more advanced and central position, and he bagged a double digit haul last Gameweek.

Haaland didn’t feature against Wolves, but his appearance on the bench suggests he will soon return to the starting XI. This could lead to a change of Pep’s tactics, and a change of role for De Bruyne. In addition, City’s FA Cup final Vs Palace comes three days before their home encounter with Bournemouth, which may affect Kevin’s minutes.

Apart from SOU(A), City may suffer in GW37 and 38 when faces BOU at home 3 days after the FA cup Final and FUL away at the final day. On the other hand, Saka faces NEW at Emirates and SOU, and I believe both fixtures are more tempting for Arsenal attackers.

I’d like to do it as a 1 GW punt rather than a 3 GW move, only if it’s a FH or WC, Pick Kevin.

Keep or Sell?

Marmoush

Haaland has had 0 min yet since returning from his injury and Marmoush should start next Gameweek. Even if Haaland starts, Marmoush is one of best City assets for xMins and should start alongside him. He has never been a sell before facing the relegated Southampton! Easy hold.

Mateta

I understand that Mateta looks like he isn’t on pens anymore and has low expected minutes recently, but I don’t think it’s an urgent sell before facing the leaky Tottenham, especially after their European participation on Thursday night.

ARS Defence

Arsenal Defenders have been disappointing recently and face Liverpool and Newcastle in next 2! Personally, I’d not start them vs LIV (A) anyway. I may consider selling Saliba as well. Attackers are my priority transfers so I may end up just benching him. And the following 2 are my preferred replacements:

  • Gvardiol: He is simply the most-owned defender in the game for a reason, getting 4 clean sheets in his last six away games. And he has also scored five goals this season.
  • Ait-Nouri: 2 Home encounters in next 3 weeks for the wing back, He has good record at home recently by a goal, 2 assists, 2 clean sheets in his last 3 home matches.

Isak

He has only 1 goal from open play in 6 matches, but it doesn’t mean he is bad asset, he was just unlucky. He is fixture proof and with Newcastle’s fight for UCL qualification his xMins are high, but we have many good forwards having better ceiling, form and fixtures in next 3. I don’t mind selling Isak for Wissa, Cunha or Wood.
