Best Differentials to Own for Gameweek 34

In Fantasy Premier League (FPL), a differential is typically defined as a player owned by around 15% or fewer managers. Here are five standout differentials to consider ahead of blank Gameweek 34:

1) Danny Welbeck (Ownership: 6.6%, Price: £5.5m)

Welbeck is one of the best differentials to own if you’re on a Free Hit this week. He will be on penalties in the absence of Joao Pedro and should see an increase in his minutes in the Brazilian’s absence.  His current ownership sits well below the typical differential threshold, making him a high-upside punt with minimal risk at an affordable price of just £5.5m.

2) Matheus Cunha (Ownership: 11.6%, Price: £6.9m)

Another forward who stands out this week is Matheus Cunha. Leicester at home is as good a fixture as it gets  so having the Wolves penalty taking talisman in a Free Hit squad seems close to essential. What also helps Cunha is the fact that he has been very bonus friendly this season – inevitably he tends to get a share of the bonus whenever he gets any sort of attacking return.

3) Kieran Trippier (Ownership: 5.4%, Price: £5.6m)

With Newcastle United having close to a 47% probability of a clean sheet this week, having at least one defender feels like an absolute must. In fact, no team has a higher clean sheet probability than Newcastle this week. Trippier is the best of the bunch – he has a share of the set pieces as well so offers points potential at both ends of the field. His chance creation helps him accumulate bonus points at a quicker rate as well, which gives him a better opportunity to score highly as compared to the other Newcastle defenders.

4) Harvey Barnes (Ownership: 5.7%, Price: £6.0m)

If you’re looking for a differential in the Newcastle attack, Harvey Barnes is your man. Isak and Murphy have been more popularly owned yet Barnes has been the one who has scored more points in recent weeks. He has been involved in five of Newcastle United’s previous 10 goals and has the ability to play on both sides of the wing. The fixture against Ipswich is a plum one as well – so roll the dice and chance your luck!

5) Justin Kluivert (Ownership: 12.0%, Price: £6.0m)

Kluivert is someone who is locked in my Free Hit team this week. He was highly owned a few weeks ago but his injury has reduced his ownership to a level that it is now below the differential threshold. As a penalty taker with a favourable fixture at home to Man United, I feel as if he needs to be given more attention. Further, Bournemouth could also have a potential double in Gameweek 36 which increases Kluivert’s appeal for FPL teams on Wildcard as well.
