The Best FPL Teams and Players to Target For Gameweek 22
Attack the plum fixtures! 🎯 Discover the best FPL Gameweek 22 teams and players to target to help you climb the ranks this weekend.
With a major fixture swing just round the corner, lot’s of managers will be eagerly anticipating their wildcard. But the question does remain, with many of these teams coming into good fixtures struggling for form, do we still move for them over teams who are currently in form and playing well.
Two great examples of this are Chelsea and Crystal Palace. Both seem a bit out of sorts of late, particularly in the attacking department. To be honest, it is making the GW24 wildcard seem less and less attractive by the day.
So what other teams have good fixtures and who are the players to target from those teams?
Before we get started, make sure you check out our Best Wildcard team for Gameweek 22 if you are thinking about an early wildcard.

Anyway, without further ado, let’s get stuck in to the best teams to target for Gameweek 22.
Chelsea

Let’s just get this one out the way early. The fixtures are unbelievable over their next 6 and I will be shocked if we don’t see those fixtures inspire Chelsea back into form. We would perhaps delay a triple up until the form picks up but moving for 1 or 2 should be safe to do so in the meantime.
Best Options:
- Chalobah – Most nailed of all defenders, set-piece threat and hit DefCon in 4 of last 6 matches. The safest option by far.
- Enzo – Nailed. Very tight in terms of projected points with Neto, however Enzo’s price tag, minutes and occasional DefCon give him the edge.
- Palmer – The risky but fun option. £10.4m is definitely an expensive risk but with those fixtures and Palmer’s potential it could pay dividends.
Crystal Palace

In a similar situation to Chelsea, a team who had been flying but some key injuries and poor form have blown them off course. Nonetheless, the fixtures are too good to ignore and like Chelsea, we recommend getting 1 or 2 in for that run.
Best Options:
- Munoz – Yes he’s still a week out but I just want to make sure his transfer back is prioritised. Not only should his return help Palace defensively but his attacking output is phenomenal. A dream FPL asset. Imagine him into those fixtures…
- Richards – Picking the right Palace defender can be tricky not least given they all hold some value. In a vacuum Guehi is better than Richards, as is Lacroix. But given the difference is a marginally better set-piece threat and a marginally better defcon potential, I would lean Richards and saving the extra £0.9m.
- Mateta – Mateta has been in a bit of funk lately with only 1 goal in his last 8. However, the impending returns of Munoz and Sarr should add some much-needed firepower to the Palace attack. Just in time for that juicy run of fixtures.
Bournemouth

Bournemouth have scored the 5th most goals in the league and conceded the 4th most. 2 Words: Box Office. Bournemouth find themselves in regular shoot outs this season given their brand of football which makes their attacking options particularly exciting.
Best Options:
- Kroupi Jr – As mentioned in our Best Players to Buy in Gameweek 22 article, Kroupi Jr currently has the lowest Mins per goal ratio in the entire league at 82. A full 9 less than Haaland. The best defence Bournemouth play in the next 10 game weeks is either Villa, Sunderland or Liverpool, and all of those fixtures are home fixtures. Kroupi Jr could genuinely be the best value asset of all time if he even puts up 60% of his current returns per minute.
- Tavernier – With Semenyo gone and Kluivert out long term, set-piece and penalty duties appear to have fallen at the feet of Tavernier. He has been quietly ticking along and with those fixtures, Bournemouth’s attacking propensity and that price tag, he could prove great value.
- Senesi – Will Bournemouth keep some clean sheets? Maybe. But that is not necessarily why Senesi is here. Firstly he is a DefCon monster, averaging 13.05, leading all defenders. But secondly, he is Bournemouth’s main deep lying playmaker, and has played more balls into the final 3rd than any player this season. Resulting in not just 4 assists but an average xGI per 90 of 0.21. 2nd in the league only to Timber.

Man City

I swear City always seem to have good fixtures. I guess it helps when you don’t have to play City. Nonetheless they have great fixtures again and are playing great football. The trouble arrives however, when trying to select an asset not called Haaland. With so many exciting talents flying around, picking one can be tricky. We will leave Haaland out this list for obvious reasons.
Best Options:
- Cherki – A lot of these will be risky so do just bare that in mind before bringing any of them in. Cherki seems to have usurped Foden of the creative and end product duties and prior to last game had started the previous 6 league games. Semenyo may throw a spanner in the works, but Cherki’s production and form should position him to get the lion’s share of minutes in the foreseeable future. Just be prepared for the odd rest here and there.
- Matheus Nunes – No doubt slept on in regard to some of the other big city names. What Nunes can provide is stable minutes. Which in a City team can be massive. He has quietly ticked along with attacking returns with 5 already this season and pops up with the occasional DefCon threshold. With better minutes, DefCon and returns than O’Reilly, the fact he’s less than half his ownership % could be significant.
- Semenyo – Now this is not an instruction to go and buy Semenyo by any means but, given his hot start to life at City, I’d maaaaaybe just hang onto him for a little bit and see if he doesn’t lock down a starting spot. If he does, the upside will absolutely massive.
Arsenal

Another team with great fixtures, likely because they don’t have to play themselves. Arsenal are the only elite defence in the entire league at the moment, meaning when they head into a fixture stretch like this, the double or even triple up at the back is essential. Arsenal have so many interesting assets but there is absolutely a priority list.
Best Options:
- Gabriel – Without question the best defender in all FPL. Plays for the best defence in the league, perennial set-piece threat and occasional Defcon hitter. Justget him in if you haven’t already.
- Timber – The inclusion of Timber here over Rice may seem controversial but its only because of the lac of clean sheet potential elsewhere in the league. To say Timber’s game is limited to this however would be underselling him. He also leads all defenders in xGI at 0.3 per 90. Him and Gabriel are the ideal double up.
- Rice – No surprises to see the 2nd highest scoring in the entire game find himself here. With 4 goals, 7 assists and DeCons per 90 of 11.01, Rice truly can do it all. This unique combo also lands him in very good stead for bonus points, for which he is also top 3 in the game. Any Arsenal set-piece taker is likely to feast so when he can also score and grab you DefCons, you don’t pass it up.
Naturally if you have any of these 3 do not transfer them out for the others. The only reason for this order is that I think the Arsenal double up at the back is going to be massive. If you have this trio of Arsenal assets you are laughing.
