Maximize your FPL rank in GW27! With a plum home tie vs Burnley, we reveal which red-hot Chelsea stars are the best captain picks.
With what can only be described as a disappointing outing for Gabriel triple-captainers, the opportunity to bounce back is finally here. This is definitely one of the more contentious weeks for a captaincy decision, and one which could lead to some serious swings as a result.

Anyway, without further ado, let’s get stuck into the best gameweek 27 captains.

There’s no two ways about it, Burnley are terrible at the moment. With 9 returns in his last 5 in the league, it’s also safe to say Joao Pedro is in the form of his life right now. This seems to be the case of an unstoppable force meeting a very moveable object. There were a few concerns around Joao Pedro’s minutes, particularly during cup rotation. However, with no minutes in the FA Cup and with no midweek fixtures next week, Joao Pedro should not only be well rested, but raring to go.
He has emerged as one of Rosenior’s favourites and his returns have backed up the faith. With Wolves and West Ham undergoing slight resurgences, Burnley stand alone as the only truly terrible team in the league right now.

For almost identical reasons to Joao Pedro, Palmer is another fantastic captaincy option this week. Personally, we give Joao Pedro the slight edge given the sheer consistency and volume of his returns. Not to mention he also plays slightly further forward. Palmer is a much streakier option whose presence on pens will always provide him with a good chance of a return.
However, Rosenior has stated that Chelsea will continue to be cautious with the fitness of Palmer, so there is the ever-present possibility that he could face reduced minutes.

The Munoz explosion is coming I’m telling you, and this Wolves fixture may be the one to kick things off. Even with a slight improvement in their recent form, Wolves have still conceded the 2nd most goals in the league and scored the least. Which is an excellent combination when you are a player who can get points at either end of the pitch.
In his last 3 fixtures, Munoz is averaging an xGI per 90 of 0.5. He also has a clean sheet to boot. Even though Palace did conceded 3 to Burnley, it is fair to say that these came from a flurry of good chances, as all 3 goals came off a combined total 0.69 xG. In fact, by xG standards, the Palace defence has actually been much better since Munoz’ return, so in theory it’s only a matter of time before we see those reflected in clean sheets. So Wolves at home could be a great opportunity fpor not just returns but also a clean sheet.

Even the best assets are allowed a one-week break. It’s going to take more than one blank against West Ham to deter me from considering Bruno for captaincy this week. Before West Ham Bruno’s returns had been 10, 10, 5, 10, 7. With only 1 goal in the mix. Some might say only goal would represent a not ideal FPL asset, however, his involvement in the assist game and potential for Defcons, means it speaks more strongly to his multiple pathways to points. Everton also have only 1 clean sheet in 2026 and have been particularly poor at home. Sitting in the bottom 6 for goals conceded at home despite sitting 8th in the league.

If there’s one thing city are good at it’s scoring against Newcastle. Despite a loss earlier in the season, City have scored 2+ in 5 of their last 7 meetings. Newcastle have also been struggling for form of late, particularly defensively. While City’s attack has been absolutely rolling.
It’s always going to be hard to bet against him to score and this fixture is no exception. Especially with a PL title now back in their sights following Arsenal’s recent mishaps.
