Despite a positive result against City, real ball knowers acknowledge that those performances only happen against Man City. Meaning Man United away should be a resumption of Spurs’ normal service. They still also gave up 2.04 xG to City so it’s hardly like their defence was even good. Man United have now scored 8 goals in their last 3 and take on a Spurs side who have conceded the most goals in the league in 2026. Plus, anyone who watched the United Fulham game knows Fernandes’ xA only being 0.28 was not indicative of his performance. Sesko’s goal alone had the whole goal to aim at after a delicious ball from Fernandes, so 0.28 does not tell the true picture.
14 of City’s 15 shots against Spurs came from inside the box and in the middle 3rd of the pitch. Exactly where Fernandes will likely operate as an advanced 10. They also gave up a ton of good chances from set-pieces, which Fernandes is also heavily involved in. Given his DefCon floor, assist, goalscoring and bonus point potential, Fernandes is our pick of the week for captaincy. His floor is just so safe.

This was incredibly tight between Fernandes and Joao Pedro this week, with the overarching point being, they’re both fantastic options. Chelsea’s defensive competence was slightly dented by the West Ham game and as a result it seems like Enzo and JP are the route to go over double defence.
Joao Pedro has been in unbelievable form with 5 goals and 2 assists in his last 4 outings in all comps. Making this fixture against Wolves even more tantalising. Even though Chelsea have a League-Cup semi-final on Tuesday, it is highly likely we at minimum see Joao Pedro get a good chunk of minutes, like he did against West Ham. Even with a bit of fatigue, he will be very tricky to keep on the bench in the league given the sparkling form he’s in. The only reason he finds himself below Fernandes is Wolves’ defensive improvements. In 2026, no team has conceded less goals in the league than Wolves, meaning this isn’t quite the fixture it used to be.

Honestly if you’d just left the armband on this man all season you’d probably be absolutely cooking right now. This man punches out 8+ pointers in his sleep. These are his points tallies since returning from injury: 15, 9, 6, 8, 1, 8. A perennial set-piece threat playing for the best defence in the league, with solid DefCon who leads all defenders in Bonus points on 18. Cheat code.
He now takes on a Sunderland side who have scored the 2nd least goals this season. Sunderland have not looked the same since Xhaka’s injury and with his injury set to keep him out for at least a few more weeks, Sunderland’s poor form seems set to continue. The bookies have Sunderland at 8/13 to go goalless and 11/8 to score 1 or more (Oddschecker). Meaning even the bookies reckon Sunderland are odds on to go scoreless against the league leaders.

If you do not own Joao Pedro then Enzo is a more than capable captaincy option this week if you like Cheslea. Like Joao Pedro he is also in sparkling form, with 5 goals and an assist in his last 7 outings. As mentioned before, even with Wolves’ improved defensive form, Chelsea’s high powered attack and form should still result in multiple goals. Enzo is also operating at a 0.6 xGI per 90 this season, which is 2nd amongst all midfielders and more than the likes of Mbeumo and Semenyo.
Also, Palmer’s current injury concerns means he is likely to see his minutes managed a lot more, especially with a League Cup semi-final tomorrow night. Meaning Enzo will be in line for penalties when Palmer is off the field.

FDR be dammed this is not a red fixture at the moment. Newcastle have conceded the 2nd most goals in 2026 and as a Newcastle fan it is blindingly obvious why. We (Newcastle) are a completely different team when we are missing certain players. Nowhere is this more evident than at these 2 points in the season. The first one was when Hall and Livramento were both out, which saw us ship 6 goals in 2 games against West Ham and Brentford. The next instance has been our most recent few games, where we have missed Livramento, Bruno G and Joelinton, and where again, we have shipped 6 goals in 2 games. With Livramento and Joelinton both set to miss the Brentford game, and Bruno G struggling with an injury which should see him at minimum not fully healthy, it seems like Newcastle will again be sporting their relegation worthy line-up. With the speed of Dango and Lewis-Potter set to cause real problems for one of the slowest backlines in the league.

Now even though West Ham have been struggling to keep anything out at the back, at the other end of the pitch it has been much better treading. With 7 goals in their last 3 games, West Ham’s attack is beginning to show signs of life and Bowen is at the heart of it. Bowen himself has 2 goals and an assist in their last 2 and is set to face a Burnley side who have the worst xGA in the entire league.
There could be some goals here.
We know there are a lot options this week so we have done our best to rank them. The long list is in case people wanted to go differential hunting with the armband. Best of luck with thsoe green arrows.
