The Best FPL Gameweek 23 Teams and Fixtures to Target
With a sea of green fixtures looming after Gameweek 23, Chelsea assets are essential. But who are the best 3? And what other teams to target!
The GW24 swing is nearly upon us, and to say that some teams are coming into amazing fixtures would be the understatement of the century.
Not a huge amount has changed since the Gameweek 22 edition of which teams and fixtures to target but nonetheless it is always handy to update the favoured players from those teams, as well as any new teams who find themselves on the list.
As always, make sure you check out our Gameweek 23 differentials piece for more great rank boosting options this week. Or, if you are on wildcard, make sure you check out our Gameweek 23 wildcard draft to really go after the swing.
Also, make sure you check out our Predicted Line Ups and Team News Hub before locking in any changes.
Anyway, without further ado, let’s get into which teams to target.
Chelsea
This should come as no surprise. Chelsea’s next 5 are about as good as it gets so loading up on Chelsea is not the question. What is the question, is who to get?
- Trevoh Chalobah – The safest from a minutes perspective quite comfortably, DefCon threshold in 6 of last 8 games, absolutely nailed and set-piece threat. Our favourite Chelsea pick by far.
- Enzo Fernandez – 3 returns in his last 4, xGI per 90 of 0.6, nailed for minutes and occasional DefCon hitter. Easily the 2nd best Cheslea asset.
- Robert Sanchez – Nailed is becoming the theme here. Those riskier could go for Palmer but given how nailed Sanchez is and Palmer’s price tag, we prefer the safety.
Crystal Palace
Despite struggling for form, dealing with Guehi leaving, Mateta leaving, Glasner leaving etc. Palace do have one thing going for them, well two actually if you include Munoz’ return, FIXTURES. After Chelsea they have Forest, Brighton, Burnley then Wolves. Just the sort of fixtures to get you back into form.
Best assets:
- Daniel Munoz – Whether he’s back this week or next he should unequivocally be your main target for Palace. Covering both the attack and the defence.
- Jean-Phillipe Mateta – Now this one is slightly riskier given the Aston Villa interest but if he stays he should be more than capable of bagging multiple returns over that stretch.
- Chris Richards – 8th amongst all defenders for total DefCons and that’s with 4 missed games. A very cheap way into a Defcon + Clean Sheet potential at only £4.4m
Man City
Even though they took an absolute beating from Man United, City’s fixtures remain fantastic. With only Liverpool on the horizon proving their only scary rendezvous. Much like Cheslea, the question with City at the moment is who to own. This will naturally be excluding Haaland.
Best assets:
- Antoine Semenyo – Even though he is a big minutes risk, the fact he is unable to play in the UCL should help his minutes in the premier league. He has already enjoyed an explosive start to live at the Etihad and thus should see plenty more opportunities.
- Matheus Nunes – Nunes only missed the United loss due to an illness so we can assume he will be back in the line-up for Wolves at home. He projects as City’s main starter and even though their defence was not great against United, his occasional attacking returns and Defcon hits mean he can provide value elsewhere.
- Marc Guehi – Even though City’s possession does not induce many Defensive contributions, Guehi is still an excellent option from set-pieces. His presence should also help sure up the City defence. Particularly into such good upcoming fixtures.
Bournemouth
A proper sleeper this. Bournemouth’s attack has been one of the higher powered in the league this year, scoring the 5th most goals in the league this season. Following Liverpool this week, Bournemouth’s fixtures really open up into a great stretch.
Best assets:
- Kroupi Jr – This is in no small part down to his price tag. With Tavernier and Kluivert out and Semenyo at City, Kroupi’s minutes are all but safe. He has the best minutes to goal ration in the entire league, even better than Haaland, and should now see plenty of action with those absences on the forward line.
- Evanilson – With Tavernier out, Evanilson is now likely on penalties. Which could be quite effective considering how attacking Bournemouth are.
- Amine Adli – With 2 goals in 4 starts so far this season, Adli is capable of solid returns when called upon. At only £5.4m he could provide decent value now he’s thrust into the heart of Bournemouth’s attack.
