The Best FPL Gameweek 20 Captains

We are back! After a brief break over the holiday period, we are back doing what we do best, helping you win your mini-leagues. We dive straight back into the best captaincy options for Gameweek 20.

With Haaland still firing, it always remains a risk going against him, but for those who are brave enough, it can often lead high rewards.

Gameweek 20 promises to be a pivotal point for captaincy with plenty of spicey differential options.

Anyway, without further ado, lets get started.

Erling Haaland vs CHE (H)

Normally this would be a much tougher fixture for Haaland, but Chelsea come into the Etihad following a rotten vein of form. With only 1 win in their last 6, it’s safe to say Chelsea have been faltering, particularly defensively. They conceded 2+ to Newcastle, Villa, Leeds and Bournemouth during that stretch and were honestly lucky not to have conceded in the nil-nil to Bournemouth as well. As a striker there is no better time to play Chelsea all season.

Jarrod Bowen vs WOL (A)

This week’s edition of ‘Whose playing Wolves?’ Takes us to West Ham and their inform man Jarrod Bowen. With 4 returns in his last 6, Bowen is going through a solid patch and is right back amongst it. West Ham’s recent fixtures have actually lifted them out of the bottom 5 for both goals scored and xG. This is no fluke either, with Bowen averaging an xGI per 90 of 0.6 over his last 4 games, more than double his average over the previous 10. With a mini resurgence going forward and the worst team in the league next on the calendar, this could prove a very lucrative game for the West Ham star.

Danny Welbeck vs BUR (H)

Now granted not many of you will own Welbeck but if you do, I would really consider slipping him the armband. Welbeck returned to the starting line-up against West Ham with a neat finish from the spot. Which was quite the contrast to his missed one in the same game. Despite the miss, Welbeck showcased the FPL importance of being on pens and was able to cash in. He now faces a Burnley side without top defender Esteve fit. This could get messy.

Hugo Ekitike vs FUL (A)

Despite 2 clean sheets in a row for Fulham, I’m not sure I’m ready to trust their defence yet. Those 2 clean sheets came against 2 of the bottom 4 teams, as they conceded 10 goals in the previous 4 games before that. With 6 returns in his last 4 games, Ekitike comes into this fixture in scorching hot form, and could very likely extend that against Fulham.

Morgan Rogers vs NFO (H)

Another excellent captaincy option this week is Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers. With 5 returns in his last 6, including some tricky fixtures such as Arsenal x2, Chelsea and Man United, he is now set to terrorise some of the league’s worse teams. He now takes on 17th place Nottingham Forest and will be keen to bounce back following a big defeat to Arsenal. If you have Watkins he is also a very strong captaincy option this week.
