Ownership: 1.6%

Now if you wanted to be safer, you could go down the Van Den Berg route if you are worried about the 4 yellow cards. However, given these wipe in GW20, we fancy our chances. Brentford have an unbelievable set of fixtures and Collins currently sits 7th amongst all defenders for total Defensive Contributions. Averaging 10.61 per 90. Brentford have conceded the 7th least goals at home this season, and have 3 of their next 5 at home. Combine this with the fact that the away fixtures are against Wolves and Everton, and the potential for clean sheets is certainly there. That sweet spot between DefCon + CS potential.
Ownership: 6.5%

Considering his low ownership, it’s safe to assume Bowen has flown under a lot of manager’s radars this season. He seems to have picked up a bit of form, with 3 returns in his last 3. However, the more significant factor is the fixtures he has coming up. From Gameweek 18 onwards West Ham arguably have the best fixtures in the league, so he will definitely be one to watch.
Ownership: 2.2%

With 5 returns in his last 9, Tavernier is another player who has been quietly ticking along. At only 2.2% ownership he has also been going under the radar. One of his biggest appeals is his presence on set pieces. He is the designated free kick and corner taker which already provides him with a solid chance of an assist every single game. But with 4 goals already this season he also has a solid eye for goal. All this combines to provide him with a very healthy xGI per 90 of 0.4. Definitely another one to watch out for.
Ownership: 1.7%

With O’Reilly grabbing the majority of attention in City’s backline, Nunes’ contributions have also been ticking along. In City’s last 6 fixtures he has not only provided more assists than O’Reilly, but also averages more defensive contributions per 90. Like O’Reilly he is absolutely nailed, having played a full 90 every week since Gameweek 6. Considering the ownership discrepancy of 10% to 1.7%, Nunes could provide excellent differential value if you were looking to bring in a City defender.
Ownership: 0.3%

Our final option is none other than Brentford’s Keane Lewis-Potter. With Dango Outtara away at AFCON, Lewis-Potter seems positioned to take on that right wing role for Brentford. What’s even more encouraging however, is that he is listed as a defender on FPL. Given Brentford have Wolves, Bournemouth, Spurs, Everton and Sunderland in their next 5, the potential for points on both ends of the pitch is substantial. Any right winger with those fixtures would be a decent punt. So, when you add in the fact he only costs £4.8m and is listed as a defender, the ceiling grows exponentially.
