The Best FPL Gameweek 16 Differentials

Ahh the differential, the main weapon of the engaged manager. With 5 bonus free transfers now under our belt, there is no better time in the season to go differential hunting. Where others may bend towards the template, these bonus transfers provide ample opportunity to go rank chasing. So why not live a little. Especially considering how many good ones are floating around at the moment.

If you are thinking about a much larger overhaul, potentially a wildcard sized one, then make sure you check out our Gameweek 16 wildcard draft for some great pointers.

Or, if you are more inclined to go for a Free Hit, we also have a quality Gameweek 16 Free Hit draft for you to get stuck into.

Anyway, without further ado, lets get stuck into the best Gameweek 16 differentials.

Harry Wilson – £5.3m

Ownership: 3%

No surprises to see a Fulham player topping this list considering their next 3 fixtures. Fulham face Burnley, Forest and West Ham in their next 3, all of which sit in the bottom 4 for most xGA.

Wilson himself has 4 returns in his last 3 against much better defences, including City and Crystal Palace, so should be in a good position to grab multiple returns during this stretch. At only £5.3m it is hardly much of a risk either.

Joachim Andersen – £4.6m

Ownership: 4.5%

Another great Fulham asset. Somehow still at only 4.5% ownership, Andersen is our next favourite differential for Gameweek 16. A DefCon monster, averaging just under 11 per 90, Andersen now combines this with an unbelievable run of 3 fixtures. Facing 3 of the worst 4 attacks in the league by both goals scored and xG.

Anytime a defender occupies the sweet spot between clean sheet potential and Defensive Contributions it is normally good news. Especially when they will only cost you £4.6m. He is also our favourite Munoz replacement.

Nico O’Reilly – £5.2m

Ownership: 7.7%

Another man who is somehow still under 10% owned is City’s Nico O’Reilly. We mentioned how good an option he was back in our Gameweek 12 differentials article so we thought it was probably time for a refresher. After the Crystal Palace fixture O’Reilly then faces West Ham, Forest and Sunderland, all of which are excellent fixtures for a defender. So clean sheets are more than on the table. Combine this with how attacking he is, averaging an xGI per 90 of 0.3, and you’re onto a winner.

He may be due a rest soon however given the congested fixture schedule, so make sure you have solid bench cover.

Dominik Szoboszlai – £6.6m

Ownership: 5.9%

Perhaps the best Liverpool asset to own at the minute. Szoboszlai has been Liverpool’s best player over the past few game weeks and unlike a lot of other attacking players at the moment, seems absolutely nailed. He is 6th in the entire league for total Defensive Contributions and has an ever-present chance of attacking returns considering Liverpool face Brighton, Spurs, Wolves and Leeds in their next 4.

Mats Weiffer – £4.9m

Ownership: 0.4%

If you’re looking for a true and super cheap differential, then Mats Weiffer is an excellent option. He is not super attacking but does still have 3 assists to his name so isn’t exactly invisible in that department. What he does have however, is the highest Defensive Contributions per 90 in the entire game at 13.96… Truly crazy numbers. As a result, he has perhaps the safest floor of any cheap midfielder in the game and could make an excellent 5th or even 4th midfielder for those looking to splash elsewhere on the pitch.

Anthony Gordon – £7.2m

Ownership: 2.4%

Despite struggling of late, Gordon seems to have rediscovered a bit of form of late. He has long been a favourite of Eddie Howe’s and should see plenty of the pitch in the upcoming game weeks. Newcastle’s attack has also seemed to kick back into life, scoring 10 goals in their last 4 games in all comps. His presence on pens should provide a nice potential floor and his return to his favoured left wing should yield plenty more opportunities than when he is playing up top. With Sunderland, a struggling Chelsea, leaky United and poor Burnley coming up, he could see plenty of opportunity for returns. Although there is a chance he gets rotated a bit as well so make sure you have ample bench cover.
