Sam FPL is here to answer all of the GW4 key FPL questions. Who is the best Sarr replacement? What to do with Isak, Palmer, Watkins etc? Who are the best teams and players to target in the coming weeks?
Every Gameweek, there are new key FPL questions that managers have to answer, especially in the early weeks of a new season. There new signings who have barely trained or played with their new teams, unexpected injuries, Nuno being replaced by Ange as Nottingham Forest Manager, among other things we assumed incorrectly in pre-season that must be addressed! So here is Sam FPL to do just that and help you through all of the key FPL questions heading into GW4!
Despite his great form and his goal last GW, Sarr’s owners found themselves with a new injury as he picked a hamstring injury and was rested during the international break. I won’t recommend selling him until we get confirmation that he is out for at least 2 weeks. Next 2 fixtures for Palace are amazing and they should score a lot. If he is confirmed injured and sidelined for weeks, I think the following picks are his best replacements:
He has 3 goal involvements in 3 GWs so far and Bournemouth has arguably one of the best fixtures in the league. A proven asset and highly recommended.
Spurs new signing returned in GW1 and looked creative. His numbers weren’t impressive in GW2-3 but he has decent games to regain form and he is more nailed than Johnson after Xavi’s signing. His price is attractive as well.
Everton star man reminded us of his Aston Villa version after joining Everton and looked very creative and lively recently. I think he will provide many assists this season and will be involved in most of Everton goals. He has a mixed schedule but you can rotate him with your bench enablers.
Finally, Alexander Isak officially moved from Newcastle United to Liverpool FC on Deadline Day (September 1, 2025) for a British-record fee of £125 million. He missed Newcastle’s preparations and early Premier League matches and lacks match fitness. Personally, I don’t expect him to start in GW4, probably a substitute shortly before their Champions League fixture against Atlético Madrid. GW4 is going to be early and risky for him, I’d wait.
Palmer has been frustrating recently but Chelsea’s fixtures are still good. They’re facing Brentford, Brighton and United in next 3, I won’t make any decision about him till reaching more info about his fitness. It’s simple wait and see. If he is fit, he is a keep.
Despite his good pre-season form, Watkins made 3 Premier League appearances so far this season and is yet to register a goal or an assist. He was a bit unlucky but Aston Villa’s form isn’t promising, tbh. I don’t think selling Watkins is urgent before facing 2 promoted sides in next 4 weeks.
Konsa has been also frustrating last GW when he conceded 3 goals at home, but again, I don’t believe selling him is urgent. I’ll rotate him with my 4.5 defenders and avoid wasting a transfer on 4.5 def.
I think when should target easy schedule and teams with good form. Put both of form and fixtures in consideration while making your transfers of building your wildcard squad.
