Brad Mayor brings you his most pressing buy, sell or hold players in FPL for GW8. Buy, sell or hold Woltemade, Grealish, Gyokeres and others!
Gameweek 7 saw another points-filled weekend with players like Semenyo, Kudus, and Malen scoring big. We’ll look at the most pressing dilemmas ahead of Gameweek 8. Who to buy, who to sell, and who to hold.
At the start of the season, Richarlison looked like he would have the starting role up front for Spurs until the likes of Randal Kolo Muani and Dominic Solanke came back from injury. However, we have now seen Mathys Tel start twice in the league, most recently in Gameweek 7, where he found the back of the net against Leeds. The combination of this rotation risk and the fixtures turning for Spurs means that Richarlison is now someone that you can sell.
Conclusion: Sell
The situation is very different for Newcastle’s new signing, Nick Woltemade, who has impressed since his arrival. The German has managed three goals in his four Premier League appearances for the club, and he could have grabbed a couple more, especially against Nottingham Forest in Gameweek 7. Newcastle have been solid at the back this season, but appeared to find their rhythm going forward in the last couple of weeks, so Woltemade is a great option with some tasty fixtures in the next few gameweeks.
Conclusion: Buy
Arsenal’s new striker has been frustrating to own in FPL this season as he has blanked in the last three Gameweeks. His underlying numbers have been impressive though, as he is ranked 6th for expected goals this season. With some nice fixtures on the horizon for Arsenal, starting with Fulham in Gameweek 8, I would hold onto Gyökeres until around Gameweek 12 or 13.
Conclusion: Hold
I mentioned above that Gyökeres is ranked 6th for expected goals this season. One of the players above him is Chelsea’s Enzo Fernández, who is 4th behind only Haaland, Mateta, and Semenyo. He did come back from international duty early due to an issue with his knee, but I would be surprised if that keeps him out of the game on Saturday. With Cole Palmer seemingly out until at least the next international break, Fernández should remain on penalty-taking duty and play as the number 10 for the next few games. Nottingham Forest, Sunderland, and Wolves make up three of those next four for Chelsea, so the Argentinian is well worth considering at just £6.7m
Conclusion: Buy
Jack Grealish’s start to life at Everton has been a fantastic one as he has picked up one goal and four assists in his first six starts for the club. Grealish owners may have been worried about the red flag that he is sporting on the FPL website/app, but it is nothing to worry about. He is not suspended or injured. He is just ineligible to face his parent club, Man City, in Gameweek 8. Therefore, if you can bench him this week, then hold onto him as Everton have some nice fixtures from Gameweek 9 onwards.
Conclusion: Hold
