Sam FPL answers the key FPL questions ahead of GW6. Who are the Gameweek 6 Wildcard essential players? And Sam also answers who the riskier punts he would take if you are using your Wildcard in Gameweek 6!
Finally it’s GW6; one of the best chances for activating wildcard as it brings a favorable fixture swing for key teams like Bournemouth, Manchester City, and Arsenal. That looks like the optimal moment to restructure squads and load up on their assets with a Wildcard.
Another reason is selling Salah who hasn’t looked particularly impressive from an eye-test perspective this season. For long stretches of games, he appears quiet and less involved compared to his usual standards. However, he still manages to nick returns in the final minutes — often when the match is already stretched which makes it harder to fully trust him as a reliable FPL asset, leaving me less confident in holding or captaining him. Personally, Salah to Haaland should be done on your wild card.
Haaland scored 9 goals and recorded the most big chances in the league. He looks really sharp this season and consistent. Highly recommended and essential for your wildcard. Despite being doubtful, he is the best captain pick for GW6, tbh.
In the opening 4 games, he had 3 goals + 2 assists, which is a great start. one of the main attacking threats for Bournemouth — high involvement, high shot volume.
Bournemouth won’t face any big club in next 4 weeks which is much tempting to load up on them.
3 clean sheets for Bournemouth in 5 weeks is very impressive, and surprisingly, Senesi registered def con points in all matches 5/5! Very solid pick for just 4.8m. He is essential in your backline and his easy fixtures will bring more clean sheets.
Arsenal have always had one of the best defenses under Arteta. Their schedule is one of the easiest in the league after NEW game and you can easily douple up on their defense. I recommend getting one of them in your backline.
Despite Arsenal’s tough opening fixtures, Gyökeres has already scored 3 goals, which has quickly drawn the attention of FPL managers. He’s getting consistent minutes, and there’s growing speculation that he could be on penalties — further boosting his appeal.
With a more favorable run of fixtures ahead, many are eyeing a move for him after the Newcastle game, and it’s likely his ownership and price will rise rapidly. If you’re planning ahead, now might be the right time to act before the bandwagon takes off.
Pedro has blanked only once in his last four matches and continues to impress under Maresca’s system — playing with directness and energy. He appears to be trusted and nailed in this new-look Chelsea side, and his low price makes him an excellent value pick.
Importantly, he could offer a viable alternative or even a points cover to Cole Palmer, especially for managers looking to differentiate without sacrificing attacking potential. Pedro’s value for money is arguably stronger at this stage of the season.
I slightly prefer Ndiaye for his penalties and the fact that Grealish won’t participate against his parent club MCI in GW8.
Everton has improved in attacking side and scored many goals during these 5 weeks, Grealish helped them a lot and WHU game is very tempting.
Fernandes or Mbeumo are recommended for next 2 weeks at least.
Manchester United face Brentford (BRE) and newly promoted Sunderland (SUN) — two matchups that present a clear opportunity for attacking returns. Despite mixed results, United have looked sharp going forward, creating chances consistently but lacking finishing luck. Bruno remains heavily involved in their attack and should benefit once the finishing improves.
