FPL Key Tips for Gameweek 22

With lots of moving parts, hirings, firings, transfers etc, the FPL landscape is currently at quite a crazy point.

It is now that we remember the powerful words of Littlefinger:

“Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder.”

And FPL is no exception. Littlefinger would’ve relished all these injuries, transfers and firings.

The template has taken a real beating of late with injuries to Gabriel, Munoz, Fernandes, Ekitike etc. As well as transfers for other big stars like Semenyo and now Guehi. This leaves many managers with some key decisions and dilemmas that could eventually decide their mini-league and indeed overall rankings.

Anyway, without further ado, lets get stuck into some of the key tips and biggest dilemmas for Gameweek 22.

Who are the Best Arsenal assets to own?

We start off with an easier but very important one, Arsenal assets. There is no doubt in my mind about owning the Arsenal triple up for the upcoming fixtures, so we are going to rank the best options in order and whether a transfer would be necessary or not.

  1. Gabriel, Timber, Rice – No transfers necessary.
  2. Gabriel, Raya, Rice – No transfers necessary.
  3. Gabriel, Timber, Raya – No transfers necessary.
  4. Gabriel, Timber, Saka – Can think about Saka to Rice.
  5. Gabriel, Raya, Saka – Can think about Saka to Rice.
  6. Timber, Raya, Rice – Would think about Raya for Gabriel.
  7. Gabriel, Rice, Saka – Would move Saka to get Timber.
  8. Timber, Raya, Saka – Would definitely move Saka to get Gabriel.
  9. Timber, Rice, Saka – Would definitely move Saka to get Gabriel.

Remember these are just my opinions and it’s what I would do but every team is different. People have varying amounts in the bank, various amounts of FTs etc. How it fits your team is most important. What’s definitely key however is finding a way to get Gabriel in.

Do I move for Chelsea assets?

This is the question on everybody’s lips right now given the upcoming schedule. The answer is simple and somewhere in between. Given they are still in a bit of a rut form wise, we would only move for 1 or 2. Delay any thoughts of a triple up until form picks up.

Those fixtures are utterly unbelievable there’s no way around it so not covering Chelsea at all would be risky business. The safest options for now are probably Chalobah and Enzo, so these would be our preferred options for now. So, if you are looking to move now, then we would target those 2. Try and save as many transfers as you can for a few weeks’ time though as Bruno Fernandes ends his rotten pair of fixtures and Daniel Munoz returns from injury.

If you have a low number of transfers, we would only recommend 1 Chelsea player for now.

Shall I still plan to bring Munoz back in even though Guehi is leaving?

Now granted this will definitely hurt Palace’s defence and were their fixtures not amazing we would probably suggest some caution. But given how much of a stud Munoz is and how serviceable Richards and Lacroix are, we would still go ahead and bring Munoz back. Not least considering a lot of his points come from the other end of the pitch.

Shall I move off Foden?

Now this is a tricky one, Foden’s output seems to have taken a back seat for the likes of Cherki and Semenyo. The one thing he does have going for him however is his minutes. Pep seems to view him as invaluable, and his limited rotation reflects this. There is definitely reason to be concerned but selling him ahead of fixtures like Man United and Wolves is not advisable. We would hold him until then and use transfers elsewhere. If he has not returned in the next 2 then it is safe to sell him ahead of the Liverpool game.

When is the right time to bring Bruno Fernandes back in?

Yes, this is a question of when, not if. Bruno Fernandes is an absolute FPL stud. It’s not every day you have a player who can get you goals, assists and DefCon points. This unique combo is why he’s also 2nd in the entire game for bonus points behind only Haaland. He’s currently 7th for total points scored even with the injury.

Now Bruno’s next 2  games are as hard as it gets, so we wouldn’t rush him back just yet. Not least considering the immediate turmoil United are in. Therefore GW24 profiles as the ideal re-entry point. Which should hopefully have allowed the dust to settle.

Is it too late to buy Thiago?

Now this is even trickier. Thiago has been on an absolute heater and is showing no signs of slowing down. However, Brentford are entering a very tricky fixture period where they now face Chelsea, Villa, Newcastle and Arsenal in their next 5.

If you own Thiago he is an absolute hold. If you don’t own him, it gets a whole lot trickier. There are a few players you should not swap out for him including Ekitike and Watkins at the moment.. If you own Kroupi or DCL you can definitely think about it but we probably wouldn’t for now. Any other striker like Bowen, Woltemade, Joao Pedro etc then we probably would. Joao Pedro’s will naturally be dependent on his minutes however.

Is Guehi now a buy?

Guehi will likely get starting minutes at City for the foreseeable future and should also sure up the defence. We would not buy immediately but he is definitely worth keeping tabs on.
