FPL Gameweek 13 Best Fixtures, Teams and Players to Target.

I feel like one of the largest debates raging around FPL at the moment is between Form vs Fixtures. Nowhere is that more apparent than the debate between Arsenal vs Liverpool assets at the moment.

Targeting good fixtures and getting ahead of the points is THE single most important factor for FPL success. Chasing points will only get you so far. But getting ahead of them, will separate the elite managers from the active ones.

A quick reminder to check in with our Predicted Line-Ups Hub before locking in any of your Gameweek 13 moves. It’s no good targeting a team’s fixtures if the player you bring in isn’t going to start!

Anyway, without further ado, lets get stuck into the best teams and players to target right now.

Man City

Man City are perhaps our favourite team to target right now. Their fixtures are absolutely fantastic, and unlike some other teams with good fixtures, have actually been in good form as well.

Predicting Pep Line-Ups is always tricky so there is always the added issue of needing good bench cover. But with those fixtures at the moment, it may very well be worth it. Here’s our favourite assets , excluding Haaland obviously because he goes without saying.

  • Nico O’Reilly – Costing only £5.0m and with 4.7% ownership. Nico O’Reilly takes our top spot. He is more nailed than some of the other attacking players and is also very attacking in his own right. He’s registered a CS or attacking return in 6/8 games so far this season and was unlucky not to have 1 against Newcastle.
  • Jeremy Doku – Like O’Reilly, he has also strung together 3 starts in a row and looked electric against Liverpool. Doku is great value at only £6.5m and averages a very healthy 0.50 xGI per 90. Also, with a low ownership of only 8.2%, Doku holds strong and cheap differential value.
  • Phil Foden – Despite not being as direct as Doku, Foden has at least started every single Premier League game this season. Despite only having 2 returns so far this season, he is still averaging a decent xGI of 0.4 per 90. Even though we have all seen what Foden can do, particularly in 2023/24 when he amassed 19 goals and 8 assists, managers will likely want to see some more production before committing to an £8m investment. Although the upside of getting ahead of the points it’s definitely tempting for those brave enough.

Man United

We’re not going to let one Everton result put us off what has been a very potent attack in recent weeks. Otherwise, we wouldn’t be recommending City either. They still sit top 4 for both goals scored and xG. I am still wary of Man United’s defence however, so we will naturally be steering clear of their defenders.

  • Bruno Fernandes – It’s super close between him and Mbeumo and honestly comes down to preference. Given they both have similar attacking underlying numbers, we do give the edge to Bruno due to Pens and his DefCon presence. The man just has so many routes to points.
  • Bryan Mbeumo – Even with AFCON round the corner, we still love Mbeumo as an FPL asset. If we did not receive 5 free transfers at the beginning of the competition then this would be a much harder recommendation. But we do, so it’s easy. With 5 returns in 6 games and West Ham and Wolves in their next 3, Mbeumo is primed for more hauls.
  • Amad Diallo – Amad has been seeing plenty of time at the 10 of late and should this continue, he could be excellent value at only £6.3m. With 4 returns already, an xGI per 90 of 0.41, a sneaky high DefCon potential averaging 9.2 a game and an ownership of only 1.9%, Amad could be an excellent budget FPL option in the upcoming weeks.

Liverpool

Ok fine, it wouldn’t be a good fixtures to target list without Liverpool here but just know I’m not happy about it. In another world everyone is already tripled up on Liverpool but with the way they’re playing right now that seems like a bit of a pipe dream.

1 win in 8, it can’t go on like this can it Mick? Either way we’ve done our best to pick out the best candidates in case they turn it around.

  • Virgil Van Dijk – Unlike some of the other options, Van Dijk at least has nailed minutes and plenty of different ways he can score points. He is still 2nd amongst all defenders for defensive contributions and also is a perpetual threat from corners. Even if you’re not banking on Liverpool scoring much or keeping clean sheets, he at least has fingers in enough pies.
  • Mo Salah – One of the few attackers who is actually nailed for 90 mins at the moment, and just happens to be last season’s highest scorer. Liverpool look out of sorts yes but if they even slightly turn it around, Salah will likely be in amongst the returns.
  • Dominik Szoboszlai – Picking a 3rd is tricky but we still want to give the nod to Dom. 4th in the entire league for Defensive Contributions and quite handy going forward. He was unlucky not to have an assist against Forest but like Van Dijk, has enough routes to points and is cheap enough that we don’t mind recommending him. A goal in the UCL at least displays his capacity for returns.

Brighton

If you’ve read any of this week’s articles, you’ll have realised I’m pretty high on Brighton. Brighton have scored 5 and conceded 1 in their last 3 games and now take that great form into Forest, Villa, West Ham, Liverpool and Sunderland. A great set of fixtures, particularly for attackers. These are our favourite Brighton assets.

  • Danny Welbeck – Thiago this, Thiago that, how about Dat Guy Welbz. With 7 goals in his last 7 games, Welbeck is in electric form at the moment. Also operating with an xGI of 0.61 per 90. So they’re hardly flukes either. He now takes his electric form into 4 of the bottom 7 defences over the next 5 games. Which could mean even more hauls. A bargain at only £6.6m and 10% ownership.
  • Yankuba Minteh – Some how sitting on even more FPL points this year than Welbeck is Premier League assist leader Yankuba Minteh. Him and Welbeck have been tearing up the league and with these upcoming fixtures theres no reason it can’t continue. Another great value differential at only £6.1m and 6.7% ownership.
  • Jan Paul Van Hecke – Brighton have also been stellar defensively as well, and no one covers that defence better than Van Hecke. Averaging 9 defensive Contributions a game and costing only £4.4m, no defender provides a better route into those fixtures. He’s also only 1.5% owned.
