Our GW12 Bournemouth vs West Ham predicted lineups, preview, team overviews, H2H record, betting odds and predicted score.
This is a clash between two teams that could not have been in more different places in terms of form, confidence and discussion around the two clubs a month ago, but now somehow we enter this game with West Ham as the form team flying high, and Bournemouth as a team struggling, entering this game off the back of two heavy defeats and a squad that is semi-decimated by injuries. So clearly, this one will be hard to call and won’t be as straight forward of a win at home for Bournemouth as we would have thought weeks ago, but are we overthinking recent results and not taking in to account the fact Bournemouth played Manchester City and a in form Aston Villa whereas West Ham played Burnley and a Newcastle team in awful form? We very well may be.
While Bournemouth may be in a 2 game slump, they were undefeated in their previous 8 league games, taking 5 wins in that span so while form may indicate West Ham have the edge, that is very much not the reality. Now Bournemouth having injuries to key players like Semenyo, Kluivert and Adams may swing the edge away from the Cherries, but they most certainly have been the superior side to West Ham all season and are clear betting favourites to take all 3 points at home. West Ham needed to make a change after Graham Potter’s horrendous start to this season had the Hammers looking like prime relegation candidates, but enter Nuno Espirito Santo who has steadied the ship much like he did at Nottingham Forest. After winning back to back games and looking like a much better side in and out of possession, they become a much tougher task to roll over for Bournemouth. This should be a fascinating game and a win could legitimately change the momentum of either side’s season.

The recent meetings between these two teams reveal one of the more unique head-to-head records I can remember, with the last 4 meetings in the league between these two teams ending in draws, including three 1-1 draws in a row and last season’s 2-2 at the London stadium. The only victory anyone has taken between these two sides was the 0-4 thrashing West Ham gave Bournemouth in the 23/24 season but that was before Iraola was in charge and turned this Bournemouth team in to something they had not been previously.

Speaking on Semenyo’s ankle injury in his Friday press conference, Iraola said “Antoine is different. It is not something new that happened when he was there. He was already dealing with an ankle injury. I cannot tell you if he is going to play or not… We will have to see. It’s not a massive injury, it’s going to be a matter of how he is feeling today”, so the fact it is not a fresh and unknown injury to Bournemouth’s medical staff is good news and Iraola stating it is not a ‘massive’ injury and Semenyo’s feeling today will be a big factor does imply he could be fit to start Saturday against West Ham.
Bournemouth have been one of the unluckiest teams over the international break with key starters picking up injuries that leave their availability uncertain for West Ham this Saturday. Iraola stated the same sentiment himself in his Friday media availability when he stated that “We have had a bad international break.
He continues to inform the media that “We had confirmed injuries of Justin [Kluivert], an abductor muscle injury. We know Justin is going to be out”. Get Kluivert out of your FPL teams because it sounds like he could miss a few weeks with how definitive Iraola was that he will miss this weekend’s games.
Iraola also informed the media that young winger “Ben Doak also, a hamstring injury, it’s a bad one. He will be out for some time”. Bad hamstring injuries can range between 2-4 months so do not expect to see Doak on the pitch any time soon.
Speaking on Smith and Adams who suffered concussions in Bournemouth’s loss to Villa in GW11, Iraola revealed “Then we had an incident with Adam Smith and Tyler Adams, because both have been in concussion protocol, so they are available for the game, but with these two weeks, they had to go through all the process of concussion and that has affected their training”. Both have cleared concussion protocol and will start.
Tyler Adams has been dropped from the USMNT team due to an injury he sustained in Bournemouth’s 4-0 loss to Aston Villa, according to the USMNT. Adams looked to have suffered a head injury in the first half against Villa but continued to play. However, it appears he is dealing with some setbacks, as he was dropped from his national team. Concussion’s are taken very seriously but the 2 week break should provide enough time for Adams to recover and pass any protocol he needs to to play.
Justin Kluivert suffered an injury with the Netherlands and has returned to Bournemouth for testing. We will wait to hear the extent of the injury and Friday’s press conference should reveal more.
Adam Smith (concussion) is concussion protocol after also suffering a concussion in the loss to Aston Villa, but is in good shape according to Iraola. Iraola stated “Now he looks okay, he’s fine, and he remembers everything. But in the moment, I think it was a very hard knock… I’ve been talking to him, I think it’s going to be just this, but we’ll have to wait”. Positive signs and Smith should start on Saturday vs West Ham.
Semenyo: Had an existing ankle injury he was working through but could actually be fit for Saturday. Not serious.
Kluivert: Out with an abductor injury.
Smith: Has been in concussion protocol but has cleared it.
Adams: Not gone to USMNT duty as he is dealing with a head injury sustained against Villa but has cleared concussion protocol.

Speaking on Fullkrug Nuno informed the media in his Friday press conference that “They’re (Fullkrug and Mavropanos) getting better day-by-day and we still have the training session tomorrow to see, evaluate and decide [their status]”. This feels like a positive update and Fullkrug should be fit to start Saturday.
Mavropanos (undisclosed) is eyeing a return following the international break, according to manager Nuno Espirito Santo. Nuno stated that “[Dinos is] improving. [He] is still doing individual work. We have the international break, and I’m hopeful he’ll be back after that”, and while Mavrapanos is expected to be fit to face Bournemouth I do not expect him to start, especially given West Ham’s last couple of results without him.
Potts was forced off in the 62nd minute of Saturday’s 3-2 win over Burnley after suffering a dead leg. On Friday Nuno confirmed he is back in training – Potts will be fit to start and will start.
Paqueta is suspended for one match due to accumulating 5 yellow cards. Ward-Prowse or Magassa will likely replace him in the starting lineup, but with how poor West Ham were performing with Ward-Prowse in the lineup and his lack of legs I think Nuno will opt for Magassa.
Fullkrug: Expected to be fit for Bournemouth and will likely start over Wilson.
Potts: Will have recovered from a dead leg and will be fit to start.
Paqueta: Suspended for 1 match due to yellow card accumulation.
Mavropanos: Will be fit to make the squad but will not start.
Magassa: Likeliest Paqueta replacement in midfield.
