Bournemouth Team News:

Bournemouth’s new centre-back Diakite picked up a knock against Spurs before the international break and was not in the squad for the win against Brighton in GW4. Newly signed 18 year old Veljko Milosavljevic from Red Star made his Bournemouth debut in his place and had an excellent game. Iraola spoke on Diakite’s injury revealing Bafo… I think he finished with some soreness against Spurs. Has been training, not training, resting a little bit, dealing with the situation in the international break. But he was not still feeling fully confident… And I hope he can be available also next week. But I don’t know. The same way that Ryan, I’m almost quite optimistic. With Bafo, we have to see how the week goes.” Clearly Diakite will try to train throughout the week after getting a few extra days recovery over the weekend, and if he does it will be safe to assume he can play some part against Newcastle. One to pay attention to as the week progresses.

Clearly, in the aforementioned quote from Iraola, Ryan Christie is even more likely than Diakite to feature this weekend. Fellow midfielder Lewis Cook returned in GW4 from his lengthy spell out, with a cameo off the bench. Given how well Scott and Adams have played this season, Cook will likely be eased back in with minutes off the bench for a few more games before he gets the chance to start. He could be an option at right-back as he was last season.

Iraola also revealed starting right-back “Adam Smith, he has a suspected hamstring injury and he will be out a few more weeks.” James Hill started in his place, and will likely do so again in GW5.

Justin Kluivert returned from injury to make cameos off the bench in Bournemouth’s last 2 league games, and should be fit enough to start. I would assume Kluivert has enough credit in the bank to take his starting place back, but Bournemouth have been winning games against good teams with Tavernier in the lineup, so this could be a more complicated situation than we would assume for a few more weeks.

Newcastle Predicted Lineup:

Newcastle Team News:

Howe speaking on Friday revealed that Nick Woltemade is fit and ready to go for Saturday’s game against Wolves, but Wissa will not be due to the injury he suffered playing for the DR Congo during the international break. On Wissa’s injury, Howe explained that “Unfortunately he (Wissa) won’t make this game. I saw him for the first time yesterday and he’s feeling the effects of the injury sustained just before he came off (while on international duty). We’re going to have to see how he is.” It does not sound like Wissa will face a lengthy spell out, and he might even be in contention for GW5.

Woltemade started and scored his first goal for Newcastle against Wolves last weekend. He put in an top performance overall, occupying centre backs and holding the ball up fairly well, linking play very well and his goal combined great movement with a great headed finish. He is Newcastle’s starting striker no questions asked.

Joelinton

Lewis-Hall should re-take his place in the starting lineup in GW4 given Trippier and Livramento will likely start for Newcastle against Barcelona in the Champions League on Thursday. Trippier won’t play 3 games in one week. Hall is also too good to continue riding the bench for old man Trippier, he is one of the best left-backs in the league. Once again Howe’s favouritism holding his team back.

Sven Botman came off with what many thought was an injury against Leeds, but Botman made the matchday squad and came off the bench in the win over Wolves in GW4.

Anthony Gordon serves game number 3 of his 3 match suspension for the red card he picked up against Liverpool in GW5. He will be available to play in GW6.
