The Best FPL Gameweek 21 Differentials

Ahhh the humble differential. The main weapon of the engaged manager.

With the season now motoring along at record pace, and players being rested left right and centre, the amount of opportunity for rank climbing has never been higher. Particularly when it comes to differentials. With a load of new chips ready for the 2nd half of the season, the chance for even more swings is huge.

With all these rotations, it is absolutely vital to check out our Predicted Line-Ups page before locking in any changes.

Anyway, without further ado, let’s get stuck into the best Gameweek 21 Differentials

Pedro Neto – £7.2m

Ownership: 7.1%

To say Chelsea have a fantastic next 7, yes 7…, fixtures would be an understatement. The blues take on Fulham, Brentford, Palace, West Ham, Wolves, Leeds and Burnley in their next 7… Mindboggling.

We all know what Palmer can do, but given he is fresh back from injury and costs a whopping £10.4m, Neto presents as the much cheaper and less risky option. With 5 goals and 3 assists already this season, and a very healthy xGI per 90 of 0.45, Neto presents as a fantastic differential candidate for honestly the next 6 game weeks. So don’t worry if you are unable to bring him in this week or next.

Thierno Barry – £5.7m

Ownership: 0.6%

Now this is a proper hear me out one. Barry has started 10 of Everton’s last 11 and albeit has had not the most productive outings. However, with 2 in his last 2, it’s fair to say he’s been heating up a bit and now looks poised to continue his stretch, as Everton have been able to score 4 in their last 2. More importantly however is their run of fixtures. They face Wolves, Villa, Leeds, Brighton, Fulham and Bournemouth in their next 6, all pretty good fixtures for a striker. So, if you did want a differential punt, particularly with Ekitike potentially missing time, Barry could be a sneaky option.

Ollie Watkins – £8.7m

Ownership: 11.1%

Even though Watkins sits just above the differential cut-off, I have barely seen him discussed as an option on FPL X. Watkins now has 6 returns in his last 5 games, including 2 goals against Chelsea, a goal against Arsenal and an assist against Man United. With his proven capacity to return against tough opponents and the generational run Villa are on right now, I feel very confident about riding the Watkins bandwagon. They don’t play another top 6 team until Chelsea in GW29 so he is also a great long-term option.

A great option if Ekitike is set to miss extended time.

Brennan Johnson – £6.5m

Ownership: 2.5%

Say what you want about Brennan Johnson as a footballer but one thing he has a knack for is goal involvements. He’s registered at least 17 G/A in his last 2 seasons for Spurs with both being on limited minutes. With Palace’s lack of competition in the wide areas, it is likely we see Brennan Johnson get plenty of action. Combine this with Palace’s top 6 xG position and fantastic fixtures, and Johnson could be in for some great returns. He also received an immediate start since signing, further boding well for his outlook.

Martin Odegaard – £7.8m

Ownership: 2.4%

Now this one is ugly but honestly it could be effective. Arsenal have scored 9 in their last 3 and show no signs of slowing down. Odegaard in particular has registered 3 returns in his last 3 games. He looks set to start for the foreseeable future in the 10 role, and given his presence as club captain, it is unlikely he will be ousted any time soon. Now granted a lot of people will already have 3 Arsenal players, but if you didn’t/recently moved off Raya, Odegaard could be a very sneaky shout. He has more points than Saka over their last 3 and costs £2.4m less. With Forest, United, Leeds, Sunderland, Brentford and Spurs coming up, Arsenal could be set to run up some high scorelines. Putting Odegaard in a great spot for the long term. He also has occasional presence on set pieces, which in an Arsenal team, is often very fruitful.
