If there was ever a time to challenge Erling Haaland in the Captaincy debate then Gameweek 12 is it. Check out our best options for GW12!
As mentioned in other articles, GW12 offers a big swing opportunity for plenty of managers. In a rather similar situation to the beginning of last season, we find ourselves in yet another edition of do you dare go against Erling Haaland?
Captaincy is one great way to gain a differential advantage and gain rank, particularly if you nail it against the template pick. This means that even though Haaland is the overwhelming favourite, if you do choose to go against him and outscore him, you will be handsomely rewarded. Other good ways to gain rank via differential options is by picking players themselves, so make sure you check out our Best Gameweek 12 Differentials article for some great low ownership assets.

Anyway, without further ado we present to you our Best FPL Captaincy Options for Gameweek 12.

Lets just get this out the way quickly. Newcastle is not the scary fixture it has been in the last few years as they enter this match conceding 7 in their last 4. City are playing some great football at the moment and as a result, the big Norwegian remains an excellent candidate for captaincy this week

Go on do it, be brave. Just don’t tell anyone if it backfires. No one would blame you for captaining Joao Pedro against one of the worst defences in the league. Burnley are dead last for lowest xGA and have given up a ton of hauls already this season to forwards. Including Erling Haaland. With an xGI per 90 of 1.00 in his last 2 and 2 goals to boot, it also seems like JP has rediscovered his scoring boots. All the ingredients for a big haul are here.

In all honesty there are some fantastic captaincy options this week, and the more I write down, the more I want to Free Hit. If like me you feel the temptation then check our our Gameweek 12 Free Hit team for the perfect team to attack it with. Mateta is another fantastic Gameweek 12 Captaincy shout as he takes on the team who have conceded the most goals in the Premier League this season, Wolves. Like Joao Pedro he also brings some great form into the fixture, scoring 4 in his last 4. Palace’s attack is also top 4 this season for xG. Again, all the hallmarks of a mega haul are here.

the first of Liverpool’s fantastic run of fixtures is finally here, and so enter Mo Salah. Nottingham Forest have kept a grand total of 0 clean sheets so far this season, and have conceded 10 in their last 5. Liverpool have now had a bit of time to bash their heads together and reset. So if we see even a glimpse of the Salah from last year he could have plenty goals in this contest.

We liked both equally and cheated and put them both down. Cry about it. The truth is, is that we genueinly couldn’t split them. Bruno has the higher floor given his DefCon and assist potential. But Mbeumo certainly has the higher ceiling considering the sparkling goalscoring form he’s in. There is no wrong answer between these 2.
