Game Week 6: Injury Report

Game Week 6 Injury Report

David Raya (£5.6m – GK):

We kick off the Injury report with one of FPL’s top keepers. Mikel Arteta has hinted that David Raya is doubtful for Saturday’s match against Leicester after the goalkeeper was seen with a bandage around his thigh following last weekend’s game against Man City. Raya didn’t feature in the squad for Wednesday’s match against Bolton. Arteta stated, “We don’t know yet. He’s got a muscular injury, so we need to check.”

Fantasy managers with Raya should consider Arsenal’s backup goalkeeper, Neto, as a replacement, making it an easy choice to start Neto. Those without Neto should think about transferring him in or picking up Emi Martinez, who has a favorable matchup against Ipswich this game week.

Ben White (£6.4m – DEF):

Ben White missed the starting line up against Man City and was also absent from Arsenal’s squad for the EFL Cup tie against Bolton. Well-connected Arsenal journalist Charles Watts has suggested that White is managing a long-standing injury issue that could require monitoring throughout the season. This makes White’s availability uncertain for the weekend. Managers should watch for updates on Friday. If White is ruled out, Jakub Kiwior (£4.8m) is likely to step in.

Jurrien Timber (£5.5m – DEF):

Timber was substituted in the second half against Man City due to a thigh problem, which kept him out of the midweek game against Bolton. However, Timber provided a reassuring update, saying, “It’s been a long time since I’ve played so many games, especially in seven days, so that’s really good,” implying that his absence was precautionary. Check Friday’s reports, but Timber is likely to start against Leicester and should remain in your FPL starting lineup if owned.

John McGinn (£5.4m – MID):

Aston Villa captain John McGinn will be side-lined for several weeks due to a hamstring injury. Manager Unai Emery confirmed, “It’s his hamstring. He had a similar injury against Tottenham in January. He won’t be available for a few weeks.” Ross Barkley is expected to replace McGinn in Villa’s starting lineup. Barkley was impressive in a deeper role for Luton last season, so he could be a capable stand-in.

Yoane Wissa (£6.1m – FWD):

It’s bad news for managers who enjoyed Wissa’s strong start to the season (3 goals in 4 games). Manager Thomas Frank confirmed Wissa will be out for “a couple of months” after limping off against Manchester City last weekend. If managers still have a free transfer, it’s advisable to use it to replace Wissa this week.

Joao Pedro (£5.7m – FWD):

Joao Pedro returned from a minor injury as a substitute against Nottingham Forest last weekend, but he picked up a more serious injury during that game. Pedro was seen on crutches afterward and hasn’t trained this week. Manager Fabian Hürzeler stated, “It was a hard tackle, and Joao had some problems afterward. He still has issues, so we’ll assess him week by week, but I don’t think he’ll be available this weekend.”

The injury appears to be a sprained ankle, and with no clear recovery timeline, Pedro should be transferred out in Gameweek 6 or 7. Brighton’s Danny Welbeck, also £5.7m, is an ideal replacement and currently in excellent form.

Alisson Becker (£5.5m – GK):

Alisson missed Liverpool’s last two games with a knock, and manager Arne Slot said his availability for the weekend will be determined closer to kick off. “We’re hopeful for the Wolves game, but it’ll be close, so we’ll see.” Kelleher has deputized well for Alisson over the past two seasons, and there shouldn’t be much concern about him weakening Liverpool’s defence, as they kept a clean sheet with him last weekend against Bournemouth.

For Alisson owners, keep an eye on Friday’s updates. If Alisson is ruled out, Kelleher (£4.4m), Neto (£4.3m), or Martinez (£5m) are good alternatives.

Rodrigo Hernandez (£6.4m – MID):

Rodri is expected to miss a significant amount of time due to a knee ligament injury, potentially side-lining him for the rest of the season. Guardiola said, “We don’t have a definitive diagnosis yet, but he’ll be out for a long while.” Rodri should be removed from your FPL starting line up and transferred out immediately. Good replacement options in a similar price range include Harvey Barnes (£6.5m), Savio (£6.5m), Antoine Semenyo (£5.6m), and Emile Smith Rowe (£5.8m).
