Game Week 4: Best Choice for Captain

This Week’s best options for captaincy (No prizes for guessing who #1 is…)

Game Week 4: Best Choice for Captain

Captaincy for Game Week 4 might be one of the less complex debates currently existing within the FPL sphere. Despite this we will do our best to provide those looking for differential options with something to glance at.

  1. Haaland (BRE): It is hard to look beyond the imperious Norwegian, who currently has 7 goals in his last 3 games including back-to-back hat tricks. He now faces a Brentford side who are yet to keep a clean sheet this season, conceding 4 in their last 3. As much as we understand trying to be different to win, captaining anyone other than Haaland is not the way to do this!

  1. Salah (NFO): If you are still late to the party and don’t have Haaland then we can only assume its because you own Salah. Salah is currently matching Haaland point for point with the pair currently both standing on a record 41. Salah does face a stubborn Nottingham Forest side who are brimming with confidence and have only conceded 1 goal through 3 game weeks. That being said, they are yet to face anyone of Liverpool’s calibre.

  1. Palmer (BOU): On the incredibly small chance you don’t own either Haaland or Salah, or you are looking for a serious differential option, Palmer could be a good option for captaincy. They play a Bournemouth side who have looked prolific going forward, scoring 5 goals in 3 games, but who have also been leaky at the back, including conceding 2 against strugglers Everton. City game aside, Palmer has 4 assists and a goal in his last 2 outings against mid-table opposition, and despite a small knock, figures to be the main man against Bournemouth. Remember you can check the OPTA Stats centre for all previous scores, goals and assists, to help with your captaincy selection.

  1. Isak (WOL): Last season Isak had a higher Goal per Min ratio than Haaland, and the eye test seemed to back this up. The Swede always looks menacing when on the ball and is not too shabby in the air either. A goal in his last outing at Spurs has finally got him off the mark, and you wouldn’t bet against him scoring against a Wolves side who have conceded a premier league 2nd worst 9 goals in 3 games.

  1. Watkins (EVE): this week has a multitude of great captaincy options, with Ollie Watkins rounding out our favourite 5. Although the Villa man has struggled in his first 3 outings, with only 1 assist to show. He now faces an Everton side who have conceded a prem leading 10 goals in 3 games. One thing to keep note of is a small knock he has picked up which has kept him out of training, however, provided he plays, expect last seasons FPL machine to pick up where he left off.

Honourable Mentions: Eze (LEI), Fernandes (SOU), Saka (TOT).
