Best differentials to own for Game week 29
For our purposes, a differential refers to a player owned by around 15% or less of FPL managers.
It’s funny to classify Haaland as a differential but I genuinely believe he is one as a significant portion of his high ownership appears to come from inactive teams. I believe he will stay a differential among the engaged managers even after the deadline as well, as a lot will be reluctant to get rid of Salah. Assuming he stays injury-free, Haaland should play a pivotal role in our squads in the weeks to come.
According to the bookmakers, he is by far the most likely player to score or assist this week and has a considerable ceiling, especially as Manchester City are projected to score the highest number of goals as well. With a double in Gameweek 33 likely, Haaland could be a set-and-forget player in our teams for the foreseeable future.
Very much like Haaland, Gvardiol makes the cut for being classified as a differential despite his high ownership as a result of his popularity in inactive teams. Gvardiol and Haaland are the only two options that appeal from Man City when it comes to minutes. Gvardiol is assured of consistent playing time and should benefit from an array of good fixtures, including a confirmed Gameweek 29 fixture and a double Gameweek later.
3) Evanilson (Ownership: 2.1%, Price: £5.6m)
Having recovered from injury, Evanilson is back on the FPL radar. Two consecutive starts in the cup and league suggest that he will likely get consistent minutes in the upcoming matches. He should be a good differential to have in place not only for this week but also for Bournemouth’s favourable schedule to come.
4) Antoine Semenyo (Ownership: 8.7%, Price: £5.7m)
Given their budget-friendly prices, loading up on the Bournemouth attack could be a clever strategy. Along with Manchester City, they are expected to be the top-scoring team of the Gameweek according to the bookmakers. I share a similar confidence in their attack as well, as they ranked 4th in the league for xG this season. Semenyo is the standout Bournemouth midfielder to have, as he’s the only attacker on the team currently assured of 90 minutes of play and comes at an affordable price.
He hasn’t delivered as many attacking returns as his counterparts lately but minutes is where he has the edge. Minutes become particularly important in Gameweek 30 – which is a midweek Gameweek scheduled right after the FA Cup which is where having a nailed Bournemouth attacker at home to Ipswich could be great.
5) Diogo Dalot (Ownership: 5.9%, Price: £5.0m)
Dalot is the final differential of choice. Leicester have failed to score in each of their previous five Premier League fixtures so having a Man United defender seems logical – especially if you’re on a Free Hit. Since most non-Free Hitters in Gameweek 29 are unlikely to have any Manchester United defenders, this presents a great opportunity to differentiate yourself from the field.
