Best differentials to own for Gameweek 23

For our purposes, a differential refers to a player owned by around 15% or less of FPL managers.

1) Cody Gakpo (Ownership: 10.6%, Price: £7.5m)

With the moneyball fixture at home to Ipswich this week, a Liverpool attacker seems like the ideal starting point. I’ve had little interest in a Liverpool attacker barring Salah this season but Gakpo getting consistent minutes has caught my eye. With an average of over 80 minutes in the Premier League since Gameweek 12 and a rest in midweek against Lille, his regular gametime looks secure for the weeks ahead.

Liverpool have two fixtures between their Premier League matches in Gameweek 24: one against PSV in the Champions League, where they’ve already secured qualification, and another against Plymouth, likely featuring a rotated squad. If you have someone like Solanke or Jackson, jumping on Gakpo before a home fixture against Ipswich is too good of an opportunity to pass up.

2) Dominic Calvert Lewin (Ownership: 1.6%, Price: £5.4m)

Calvert-Lewin is someone I have my eye on as a forward enabler ahead of Everton’s upcoming double Gameweek. He should emerge as the best Everton attacking option, with the majority of chances expected to come his way given his role as the number nine and penalty taker.

The fixture against Leicester in the double Gameweek is clearly a big carrot, and also reassuring is his favourable fixture against West Ham at home in blank Gameweek 29.  If you have someone like Raul, going for Calvert Lewin could be a shrewd move.

3) Eberechi Eze (Ownership: 9.1%, Price: £6.7m)

As long as Eze’s ownership stays under the limit, he’ll continue to feature in my differential choices. Having delivered in the past four Gameweeks, I’m sticking with what’s working! Sarr may compare to Eze statistically, but Eze’s set-piece responsibility and penalty potential make him the better option.

His affordability makes it easier to include premium players like Trent, Isak, Palmer, and Salah.

4Alisson Becker (Ownership: 8.0%, Price: £5.5m)

I believe doubling up on the Liverpool defence is a strategy that should yield dividends. Liverpool have by far the best expected goals conceded (xGc) tally in the league, and now have a great run of fixtures coming up, including a home fixture against Ipswich this week followed by a double Gameweek immediately after.

In fact, bookmakers have Liverpool as the favorites to keep a clean sheet this week and at least one in Gameweek 24 too. Alisson should be a reliable set-and-forget pick for the weeks ahead.

5) Ibrahima Konate (Ownership: 4.7%, Price: £5.1m)

For similar reasons, I am warming to Konate too. Now fit again, Konate looks set for steady Premier League game time based on Slot’s comments and Liverpool’s kind schedule.
