Game Week 15: SamFPL’s Key Questions

What to do with Wolves assets?

Wolves arguably have the best next three fixtures in the league, but they are in bad form. It’s going to be form vs. fixtures, so simply, I treat them as “No buy. No sell.”
Cunha has back-to-back blanks against BOU and EVE, but he has many routes into points and can return in any game of the next three game weeks. If I own him, I’d keep him.

On the other hand, Aït-Nouri has three consecutive blanks and no attacking return in the last five games. Wolves are one of the worst defensive teams this season and are ranked in the bottom five teams for xGC. However, no £4.5m defender is attractive and provides decent numbers, so it isn’t an urgent sell as long as you won’t bring in one of Alexander-Arnold or an Arsenal defender.

Alexander-Arnold and Timber Deliver

After praising Alexander-Arnold and Timber in last game week’s article, they immediately rewarded their new owners with two returns each: two assists from Trent and a goal and a clean sheet from the Gunners defender.
Is it worth paying the extra cash for Trent?
Since Konaté is injured for a month and there are doubts around Robertson’s minutes, I believe you should prioritize Trent over Virgil and pay the extra £0.4m! Liverpool are the best defensive team this season, and their upcoming fixtures are amazing! We will likely see some double-digit hauls for the English defender soon.

On the other hand, Timber offers great value for £5.6m, and White’s long-term injury will boost his minutes. I also have the feeling that he will continue starting when Ben is back, as he can play on both sides of the pitch. Arteta isn’t helpful with his team injury news, but I’ll start Gabe again and hope he features next game week.

Updates on Mbeumo

Anyone keeping Mbeumo till now probably isn’t watching Brentford matches. The Cameroon international failed to register a shot in 90 minutes once again. Only one shot in five games. He was an easy sell for me last week. You’ve no reason to keep him.

Best bench enabler: Amad vs. Rogers?

Both are great and offer excellent value. They enable you to load up on premiums without affecting your team balance. Picking one of them depends on your team structure and combinations. Some teams need a starter for the next game week, others need their enabler in GW16. Simply, it’s team dependent. Check your team and plan for the upcoming game weeks. Rogers can be started in GW15, 19, and 20, while Amad’s best fixtures are 17, 18, and 21.

Keep or Sell?

Pedro Porro (£5.6m)

Apart from his haul against Man City, Porro is averaging 2.09 points per match since GW3. He isn’t part of the top five defenders, and Tottenham are one of the worst defenses this season. I can’t accept that he is priced at £5.6m and believe he isn’t worth it at this rate. Timber is the obvious replacement.

Son

The South Korean’s minutes have been reduced recently. In the last five game weeks, he stayed on the pitch for more than 65 minutes only twice. This isn’t optimal for a £9.9m asset, and he faces CHE and LIV in the next three fixtures. If you own him, I recommend switching to Palmer or Saka.

Welbeck

After three consecutive blanks, Danny was benched on Thursday, and it looks like Pedro is prioritized over him. J. Pedro started upfront and provided his owners with an assist! Pedro is younger and more trusted by his manager. He fits in many positions: second striker, central forward, or even a winger. He takes penalties, and perhaps he will outscore Welbeck on a long-term basis. I highly recommend such a switch.
