Game Week 14: BigManBakar’s Best Differentials

Best Differentials to Own for Game week 14

For our purposes, a differential refers to a player owned by around 15% or less of FPL managers.

Antoine Semenyo (Ownership: 6.7%, Price: £5.7m)

Semenyo should be a strong consideration for those seeking a budget midfield enabler this week.
He’s ranked 6th for xGI among all midfielders in the league this season and is head and shoulders above his Bournemouth teammates for underlying data, beating them for penalty area touches, xGI, shots, and shots inside the box.

Bournemouth are ranked 5th for xG this season, so you’d expect them to be good for goals in most games, especially considering the appeal of their favourable fixtures to come.

Currently, I prefer him to the more popular Morgan Rogers as a result of his superior underlying data and better expected minutes.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (Ownership: 19.1%, Price: £6.9m)

While Trent’s ownership exceeds the differential threshold, a significant portion of it appears to come from inactive teams.

He has registered just a single assist this season, but his expected goal involvement (xGI) of 3.7 shows that he is unlucky not to have gotten more attacking returns.

Despite the underwhelming returns this season, I still think of Trent as an elite pick, as he is first for expected goal involvement (xGI) among defenders and is playing in a defense that is comfortably the best for fewest xG conceded this season.

The long-term fixtures are pretty good from this point, so I think he’s a nice set-and-forget option to have in place from now on.

Levi Colwill (Ownership: 3.5%, Price: £4.5m)

If you’re in the market for a cheap defender this week, Colwill is probably the one to get.

Chelsea have a great run of fixtures all the way until Gameweek 22, a period in which they play five of the worst seven teams for fewest xG accumulated this season.

This is surely a run where you’d expect Chelsea to show some defensive resilience.

The bookmakers expect the same – Chelsea are ranked in the top five teams for bookmakers’ clean sheet probability in seven of the next nine Gameweeks.

Colwill is the most secure starter in the Chelsea defense, and at £4.5m, he should be good value for money.
