Game Week 11: Saturday’s FPL Round Up

Game week 11: Saturday FPL round-up

Saturday was a big day in the title race and in the race for the crown in our FPL leagues. We had everything from getting a Saturday head-to-head between Haaland and the best budget FPL strikers, Mo Salah being Mo Salah and more. Let’s run through all the action.

Ballin’ on a budget

Erling Haaland finally scored against Brighton after all that accumulated xG without one over the past few weeks. That should have made Haaland owners who stood firm happy. But Saturday was a big notch in the belt for the budget FPL strikers over Haaland truthers, as Wissa (£6.0m), Cunha (£6.7m), Raul (£5.8m) and the returning Joao Pedro (£5.4m) all returned hauls for their FPL managers.

Wissa bagged a brace including a glorious match winning chip of Kepa Arrizabalaga to continue his incredible run of form this season. The Brentford striker registered 0.62xG, a very good figure for a single game and showed off his finishing skills to score his two biggest chances of the game. With fixtures against Everton and Leicester, Wissa owners must be excited for more to come and who can blame them?

Cunha, the king of bonus points did it again after coming through for his FPL managers with a goal, an assist and once again, all 3 bonus points. The Brazilian is everything and more to Wolves attack, creating chances and scoring key goals. The through ball for Sarabia’s goal was perfectly weighted and the strike for his own goal was out of this world.

He is of the in-form players in the league, displayed by his turning of 0.48 xGI combined into 2 goal contributions. With fixtures against Bournemouth, Everton, West Ham, Ipswich and then Leicester coming up, FPL managers without Cunha might be sweating through Wolves’ games.

Raul did not manage to get on the scoresheet himself, but did play a wonderful assist through to Smith-Rowe to open the scoring for Fulham. He is still the focal point of Fulham’s attacks, posting a solid 0.31 xGI in Gameweek 11 and with Wolves in Gameweek 12, we go again with Raul starting!

Welcome back Joao Pedro, and what a welcome back it was. The Brighton Forward made an instant impact in the game with his team trailing and was the catalyst to their huge comeback win over Man City. He posted a ridiculous 0.89 xGI in just 25 minutes on the pitch, scored the equaliser and is a near lock to walk back into Brighton’s starting XI after the international break.

Fulham’s Former Big 6 Boys Shine

Fulham sit tied on points with Arsenal and Chelsea before a ball is kicked on Sunday. That is down to Marco Silva and his ability to get Smith-Rowe, Iwobi and now Harry Wilson, all firing behind their lead man Raul Jimenez. Smith-Rowe scored, Iwobi got an assist, and Wilson once again came off the bench to run riot at the death, scoring to seal the victory for the Cottagers.

Smith Rowe registered a solid 0.23 xGI, Iwobi a dominant 0.78 xGI and Wilson is potentially proving he should be starting alongside them. What is even more exciting for FPL managers is that all three were so close to bigger points hauls. Iwobi assisted Smith-Rowe for what would have been his second goal, only for it to be narrowly offside.

Wilson also scored another goal that was ruled out. Fulham’s attacking options are continuing to prove fruitful for fantasy managers at relatively bargain prices. With a matchup against Wolves in Gameweek 12, there’s almost no choice but to ride the hot hand.

More Mo Salah

Salah currently sits 22 points ahead of Haaland and Palmer after Saturday’s games. The Egyptian king has been nothing short of sensational this season, with 14 goal contributions in 11 Premier League matches. Just sensational output. Salah is now the must-own player in FPL.

As for Liverpool’s other forwards, Diaz and Nunez started, with Nunez scoring a wonderful goal to break the deadlock, while Gakpo made an appearance off the bench. The rotation of these forwards outside of Salah is inevitable but the best one to own is Luis Diaz.

Liverpool’s defence continues to prove itself as the best in the league and arguably Europe with another Clean Sheet. Trent limped off injured but has the international break to recover. Given that, Konate (£5.3m) and Van Dijk (£6.2m) are proving to be the best options at the minute as Tsimikas and Robertson are rotating in and out at left back. What we do know is that every single FPL manager should own at least one Liverpool Defender.

The City’s Defences Have Been Breached

Man City have now lost four consecutive games for the first time in the Pep Guardiola era. They look a shell of the side they were last season with many frailties, but particularly defensively. Yes, they had many defenders side-lined for Saturday’s loss, but they have not been keeping clean sheet’s or looking like a robust defensive side all season.

In Game week 11 they conceded 2.29 xG and it is a worrying trend. With how many options Pep has at his disposal in defence, and the poor form, Man City Defenders are proving a tough own right now outside of Gvardiol.
