Look, we know it was against newly promoted Leicester, but there’s no denying United looked good. Despite a low xG figure of 1.24, United regularly carved Leicester open and honestly could’ve even had 1 or 2 more. This result bodes well for most FPL relevant United players. Bruno Fernandes (£8.2m) continued his good form from the Chelsea game, where he personally registered an xGI of 1.37.

He was at the heart of everything United did and reminded people of his elite finishing ability and hunger to make direct runs into the box. Congratulations to those who captained him after seeing his potential against Chelsea, I am very jealous.

With Ipswich and Everton in their next 2, Bruno is a great hold and very strong captaincy option, although with Arsenal, Forest and City in weeks 14-16, don’t be too rash in trying to accommodate him if you don’t own him already.

United also have a weirdly good clean sheet record this year with 5, 2nd to only Liverpool on 6, despite being in the bottom 8 for xGA. It is therefore hard to justify transferring out Onana (£5m), Dalot (£5.1m) or Mazraoui (£4.5m) while they are getting these clean sheets. Mazraoui was also unlucky not to have an assist against Leicester, and being £0.6m cheaper than Dalot probably tips the scales in his favour if you were to own one.

Amad (£4.9m) also received a full 90 minutes and looked dangerous in possession. It remains to be seen whether Amorim will ride with Amad but at £4.9m he is definitely one to keep eyes on as a great cheap differential.

Despite starting on the bench, Garnacho (£6.3m) once again showed his class with a fantastic finish to seal the game. The man is playing too well to be benched moving forward, so do not fear if you own him.

 New-Castle

As a Newcastle fan myself, there aren’t many pieces I am happier to write about than our return to winning ways. But what these past few weeks have also shown, is that we can begin to trust Newcastle FPL assets again.

Isak (£8.3m) has now recorded 3 goals in his last games and looks every bit the Isak that we saw dominating the league last year. What’s more significant is that these goals came against Chelsea, Arsenal and Forest, 3 of the leagues better defences.

With West Ham, Palace, Brentford, Leicester and Ipswich in their next 6, now is as good a time as ever to get the big Swede in your teams. Particularly if you’re selling Haaland (£15.3m) and have the extra cash.

If you were looking at owning a Newcastle defender as well then Hall (£4.3m) provides excellent value at £4.3m, and appears to be nailed, especially with his England call-up.

Barnes (£6.4m) and Gordon (£7.2m) are just a tad too inconsistent at the moment to consider them ahead of other FPL options in that price range.

History of de Tottenham

Listen, we’d like to start by saying Solanke (£7.6m) captainers, you were definitely unlucky. We’d now like to follow that by laughing at Spurs. Haha.

Its hard to know where to land on Spurs assets, as one week they look electric and the next they’re losing to Leicester or Palace. They did register an xG of 1.75 and in truth were unlucky not to grab a few more.

But the reality is, they should really be doing better against Ipswich, and one thing we do know for sure, is that we wouldn’t go near any Spurs defender with a barge pole.

Johnson (£6.7m) still looks like a good shout at just £6.7m however, and I probably wouldn’t hit the panic button on Solanke either. Son (£9.9m) on the other hand is just not living up to his price tag and so we would probably move on to the likes of Bruno (£8.2m), Salah (£12.8m), Palmer (£11m), Mbuemo (£7.8m) etc, if you haven’t already.

Liam Delap (£5.7m) also continues his quiet scoring form, recording 5 goals and an assist in his last 6, and provides a sneaky differential option at only 5% ownership.

Battle of Stamford Bridge

In more recent times the Battle of Stamford Bridge has referred to the football, and this match was no exception. Arsenal looked revitalised with Odegaard (£8.2m) back and Chelsea looked every part like their recent form was no fluke. In a match that could easily have finished 2-2, there was plenty to pick apart from an FPL perspective.

Although star man Saka (£10.1m) was kept quiet on the night. Opportunities presented themselves for other Arsenal attackers including Havertz (£8.1m), who had a goal disallowed by centimetres, and goal scorer Martinelli (£7.0m).

Odegaard’s return could not come at a better time for Arsenal who’ve taken only 2 points from their last 4 games. But with West Ham, Fulham, United, Everton, Palace, Ipswich and Brentford in their next 8, they have a real opportunity to bounce back. So if you were thinking of re-introducing some Arsenal assets into your team, now is probably the time. This goes for defenders as well, as Rice may be able to revert back to a more protective role, as Odegaard regains more of the playmaking responsibilities.

Palmer (£11.0m) did shake off a knock to play but still showed flashes of intent early on with an early thunderbolt that Raya (£5.6m) did well to stop. Despite 2 blanks in a row, I think we’ve all learned our lesson about doubting this man, particularly with Leicester, Villa, Southampton, Spurs, Brentford, Everton Fulham, Ipswich and Palace as their next run. Palmer is an easy hold and consistent captaincy candidate during that stretch.

With 3 starts in a row Neto (£6.2m) appears to have nailed down a starting spot and could provide an intriguing and cheap differential option as part of a good attack at only 0.7% ownership. His goal wasn’t too shabby either.
