You’ve seen the news: the Saudi Pro League is splashing cash like a sheikh at a bazaar, turning it into a retirement home for legends and a very lucrative detour for younger stars. So why can’t you jump into Al-Nassr and lead Cristiano Ronaldo to Asian glory right out of the box in FM26?
Think of it like this:
The brilliant minds at Sports Interactive (SI) have a giant, complex rulebook for every league they make playable. They need to officially ask permission from the league (the governing body) to use all the real badges, names, and cups. This process is called licensing, and for a powerful, newly global league like Saudi Arabia’s, that negotiation is long, complicated, and let’s just say, very expensive.
SI clearly chose to prioritize bringing in Egypt, Lithuania, and the UAE, suggesting they had a more straightforward path with those federations. The Saudi Pro League’s surge was so rapid and its financial structure so new that the legal and technical red tape simply couldn’t be unraveled fast enough to make the final cut before the FM26 development deadline.
It’s not that the league isn’t in the game (the players and clubs exist in the database); it’s that the “Playable” feature—the golden key that unlocks the manager’s chair—is tied up in paperwork heaven. So, for now, Ronaldo and his mates are just very wealthy transfer targets, not your starting XI. You’ll need to wait for the passionate community modders to find the key.
If you have the early access Beta for Football Manager 26 – enjoy playing! We’re right there with you!
