Longest Streak of Dominance In World Football To End in FM26

If you’re gearing up for the release of Football Manager 26 (BETA drops this Thursday. full game released on November 4th 2025) then now is the perfect time to look beyond the usual leagues and pick your managerial challenge in some of football’s less-explored territories. What if you took charge of a club in a league where one team has ruled for years or two giants have locked domestic dominance? I’ve researched the longest title-winning streaks and entrenched duopolies to suggest where you could go to upset  the apple cart. These countries are also perfect if you want to do a ‘build a nation save’ – where you need one dominant team to help bring the rest of the league up to scratch and boost the performance of the entire country.

Bulgaria (Ludogorets Razgrad, 14 in a row)

In Bulgaria the story has become monotonous: Ludogorets have lifted the championship every season since 2012, clinching their 14th straight title in 2025. Their dominance is so complete that they tied the European record for consecutive top-flight titles. In the 2024/25 campaign they wrapped it up with games to spare and finished 16 points clear of the next team. Surely even Ludogorets fans must be dying for some true competition now)Suggested club to challenge: Litek Lovech – the last club to win the title in Bulgaria that wasn’t Ludogorets)

Malaysia (Johor Darul Ta’zim, 11 titles in a row)

In the Malaysian Super League JDT have ruled since 2014, winning ten straight from 2014 to 2023 and adding more after that. Before their era no club had ever won more than two in a row. They’ve also started the season ridiculously, winning every game so far, and scoring 33 goals to 3 in 7 games. If you’re tired of managing in Europe, this could be the perfect one for you.Suggested club to challenge: Kuala Lumpur – the capital city and the team currently 2nd, it just makes sense

Serbia (Red Star Belgrade, 8 in a row)

In Serbia’s SuperLiga Red Star have won the title eight seasons running, from 2017/18 through to 2024/25. Even Partizan haven’t been able to touch them in this period. They’ve won their first 10 games of this season, so it looks like it will take a special virtual manager to break this monopoly any time soon.Suggested club to challenge: Vojvodina – this club has finished 3rd in the Serbian league far too many times to these two

South Africa (Mamelodi Sundowns, 7 in a row)

In South Africa the Sundowns have been the dominant force. They’ve won every league title since 2017.Suggested club to challenge: Orlando Pirates – one of Sundowns’ major rivals. They haven’t won a league title since 2012. Also just a very cool name for a football club.

Other notable streaks:

  • Ferencváros (Hungary) winning seven straight
  • Slovan Bratislava (Slovakia) winning seven straight
  • Celtic + Rangers (Scotland) – no other club has won the league since 1985
  • Dynamo Kyiv + Shakhtar Donetsk (Ukraine) – no other club has won the league since 1992
