FM26 – Sports Interactive Deploy Huge Wave of HotFixes amid Criticism

The Issues

It’s safe to say the FM26 Early Access BETA got off to a rocky start. With over 600 bugs and glitches reported within the first few days of launch, it is safe to say the devs have the work cut out. Although FM26 hotfixes have begun to rollout.

Given the sheer size of the game and programmatic power, such bugs and glitches will always be inevitable with a game of this size. This makes checking to make sure your PC can run FM26 even more important.

This is also the most leagues that a Football Manager game has ever accommodated, so the sheer amount of data and processing power required to run that many leagues simultaneously will again naturally place a strain on CPUs. These extra leagues do however make the game very fun, so make sure you check out the comprehensive list of all playable leagues.

In theory, the game has vastly improved graphics, gameplay and leagues, but at the moment, seems to be falling way short of the mark on some of the simpler factors like bugs, glitches, UI and navigation.

However, one encouraging sign has been the responsiveness displayed by the devs. They deployed over 14 hotfixes during Fridays update and have maintained a strong communication with the community, by providing assurances that they will be working through the bug tracker.

The Breakdown

Most of the fixes can be split into 3 main categories. Stability and Crashes, UI and Navigation and Gameplay and Logic. These 3 sections formed the overwhelming majority of reported issues. As a result, these have received the most attention on the dev side.

Say what you will about the launch and the issues. But this sort of dev responsiveness and community outreach should not be taken for granted. From all my experience in the gaming sector I can assure you that plenty of games have a much more unresponsive or checked-out dev team. So seeing this sort of swift receptiveness and action should not be taken for granted.

Give it time and keep the faith.

What do you think of the Hotfixes? Is it a good start or not enough?

We need to remember there is still plenty of time between now and the official game launch. So if this early responsiveness and speed is anything to go by, we should be looking at a much improved product come the official launch date.
