3 Transfers Arsenal Should Make This Summer

Another season, another summer where Arsenal find themselves just a few pieces away from being a generationally great ide.

Mikel Arteta has transformed Arsenal into one of Europe’s elite teams. The Gunners are defensively outstanding, physically dominant, and capable of controlling matches against almost anyone.

Yet there remains a lingering feeling that the attack still lacks something. Too often Arsenal’s forward line can look predictable, overly reliant on set pieces, or dependent on moments of brilliance rather than sustained creativity.

If Arsenal are serious about winning both the Premier League and Champions League, this summer should be about adding elite-level firepower and unpredictability. Not least considering the huge revenue influx that their Premier League win and Champions League run will have generated.

Here are three transfers that could take Arsenal to the next level.

Bradley Barcola (PSG)

If there is one position Arsenal have consistently struggled to solve, it is left wing.

Gabriel Martinelli remains a dangerous player, but his development has plateaued somewhat over the last two seasons. Leandro Trossard offers versatility and intelligence but is certainly not on the level of a Diaz, Doku, Vini Jr etc, and is best used as a squad option rather than a guaranteed starter.

Bradley Barcola could be the answer.

The PSG winger has established himself as one of Europe’s most exciting young attackers, combining explosive pace, elite dribbling ability and outstanding ball-carrying. Arsenal have reportedly monitored Barcola’s situation, with several major clubs keeping tabs on the French international amid fierce competition for places at PSG.

What makes Barcola such an attractive fit is his profile.

Arsenal often struggles against deep blocks because they lack players capable of consistently beating defenders and generating chances out of nothing. Bukayo Saka can provide that threat on the right, but the left side rarely offers the same level of danger. Barcola would immediately change that dynamic.

His ability to receive the ball wide, accelerate past defenders and create numerical advantages would force opponents to defend Arsenal more honestly. That alone would create additional space for Arsenal’s other attackers. At present, Martinelli and Trossard simply do not have this in their locker.

There are understandable concerns about his finishing. Even PSG supporters have occasionally highlighted inconsistencies in front of goal, despite his obvious talent.

However, Arsenal do not necessarily need another goalscorer on the wing. They need a chance creator, a progressive ball carrier and someone capable of stretching defensive structures. Barcola ticks every box.

At just 23 years old, he would also fit perfectly into Arsenal’s long-term age profile.

Most importantly, he addresses arguably the biggest weakness in Arteta’s current squad.

Victor Osimhen (Galatasaray)

The striker debate has dominated Arsenal discussions for years now.

Kai Havertz deserves enormous credit for adapting to the centre-forward role. His movement, pressing and link-up play have all improved significantly. Meanwhile Viktor Gyökeres has shown glimpses of his touch and finishing ability.

But neither player offers the complete package that Victor Osimhen brings.

At his best, Osimhen is one of the most devastating strikers in world football.

The Nigerian international combines elite movement, physical dominance, aerial ability, pressing intensity and ruthless finishing. Few forwards possess such a complete skill set.

The links between Arsenal and Osimhen have persisted for several transfer windows, with reports suggesting Arsenal have explored a move and made contact regarding a potential deal.

The numbers speak for themselves.

He scored 65 goals in 108 games for Napoli and 41 goals in 52 games for Galatasaray. Simply outstanding numbers. Helping both to league titles in the process.

Arsenal’s attack often lacks a genuine penalty-box predator.

When facing elite opposition, Arsenal frequently dominate territory and possession but fail to convert enough of their chances. Too many attacks end with crosses into a penalty area lacking a true killer up top.

Osimhen changes that.

He is arguably one of the best finishers in the world at present. His movement between centre-backs is exceptional, and his willingness to attack crosses would give Arsenal a completely different dimension. Not least for a team who often seeks to get to the by-line.

There is also a tendency to underestimate his pressing ability. Unlike many traditional number nines, Osimhen is relentless without the ball. That makes him an excellent fit for Arteta’s aggressive defensive structure.

The reality is simple.

Havertz is a good player.

Gyökeres is a good striker.

But Osimhen is a different level.

If Arsenal want the best possible centre-forward available, Osimhen should be near the top of the list.

Morgan Rogers (Aston Villa)

Although this might be the most fun name on the list.

It may also be the smartest.

For several years now, Martin Ødegaard has been Arsenal’s creative heartbeat. However, there is growing concern that the Norwegian’s influence has declined. Which has led to reports that Arsenal are currently hearing offers for him.

His Injuries, fatigue and opposition adjustments have all contributed to periods where Arsenal have struggled to create high-quality chances from open play.

The squad desperately needs another creative force.

Morgan Rogers could be exactly that.

The Aston Villa star has emerged as one of the Premier League’s most exciting attacking players under Unai Emery. His versatility allows him to operate as a No.10, left winger, second striker or wide creator. That flexibility alone would make him invaluable for Arsenal.

Rogers’ underlying profile is particularly appealing.

He excels at carrying the ball through midfield, breaking defensive lines and creating chaos in transition. Villa have increasingly relied on his ability to receive under pressure and drive into dangerous areas.

His output has also improved dramatically, and he now has 57 goal contributions in 117 appearances for Villa. Excellent numbers for a midfielder. He also has a habit of scoring in big games and is clearly not fazed by the moment.

Perhaps most importantly however, Rogers directly addresses TWO of Arsenal’s biggest weaknesses.

Firstly, he provides competition and cover for Ødegaard in central areas.

Secondly, he can play from the left wing, where Villa have often utilised him to devastating effect. Tactical analysis has highlighted how effective Rogers can be when starting on the left and driving inside onto his stronger foot.

Arsenal currently lack players capable of consistently creating advantages through dribbling and ball progression.

Rogers offers both.

At 23 years old, he is also entering the stage of his career where rapid improvement is still expected.

The price would undoubtedly be significant, but elite Premier League-proven creators are extremely difficult to find.

Final Verdict

It is hard to say which signing would have the most impact for Arsenal. However, what we do know is that they need some attacking signings.

Although the ideal summer would involve all three, if we had to look realistically, Osimhen should be a priority given their current shortcomings at striker. However, given Arsenal’s Premier League win, Champions League run and potential to offload some players during summer, there is absolutely a world where all three are within the realms of possibility.

Arsenal do not need squad players or depth anymore, they need attacking superstars.

Barcola solves the left-wing problem.

Osimhen provides elite goalscoring and physicality up front.

Rogers injects creativity, versatility and unpredictability into the attack.

Individually, each player improves Arsenal.

Together, they could transform Arsenal from the best team in England to the best team in the world.
