Chasing your mini-league? Need some dilemmas solved? We’ve got you covered. From Captaincy, to Rotation risk teams and Palmer replacements.

FPL Gameweek 36 Key Tips

Crunch time is finally here. This is where leagues are won and lost. Where differentials are massive and late title charges are won. The final few games of the season.

Whether you are ahead in your mini-league or behind in your mini-league, one thing is for sure, you will have your own strategy.

If you are behind and looking for some differential gains, then we recommend checking out our Best Gameweek 36 differentials, and indeed our best Gameweek 35 differentials, as all 3 of those bagged last week.

For more differential gains, another good place to check in is our Gameweek 36 Captains piece, where we list out the best differential captains to take on Haaland with.

And as always, make sure you check in with our Predicted Line Ups and Team News Hub before locking in any changes.

Anyway, without further ado, let’s get stuck into the Gameweek 36 Key Tips.

Captaincy/Triple Captaincy Equation

Now, most of you may think this is as simple as listing the best options. However, given the crunch point in the season, your captaincy selection should be as much about your mini-league position as it is about who you think the best option is.

For example, if you are sitting 2nd in your mini-league by about 15 points or more, and you know 1st is likely to pick Haaland, then picking Haaland as well will do nothing for you by way of gains. However, if you pick a Cherki or O’Reilly type, there is always the chance that they go off and Haaland doesn’t, and therefore you make up serious ground on 1st place.

The logic here makes perfect sense, as even if you go Cherki or Nico O’Reilly and Haaland still outscores them, then you are still 2nd anyway and not much changes. It’s about giving yourself that shot.

Where the equation is slightly different however, is if the point differential is a lot smaller. If you are less than 10 points behind for example, and gains can be made elsewhere, then it is probably safer not to take on Haaland. All depends on your preference but this would be our suggestion.

What if I’m leading my mini-league?

If you are leading your mini-league however, then you just set Haaland as Captain and forget.

What makes this even more spicy is that the world #1 and world #2 both have their TC chips in hand with the world #2 needing to make up 24 points, so we likely see some differential action vs Haaland. Check out the full breakdown here.

Managing Rotation Risks

Make sure that the final transfers that are being made are all for teams who still have stuff to play for. We will put all teams into a risk ranking below so you know which players minutes are safest, and which players are most at risk towards the end of the season. Top being the safest and bottom being the least safe.

  1. Arsenal – Very safe minutes. Chasing Prem title and UCL final full week after final game of season.
  2. West Ham – Very Safe. Fighting for Premier League survival. No other cup focus.
  3. Spurs – Very Safe. Same story as West Ham.
  4. Bournemouth – Safe. Fighting for Europe, will likely come down to last game of season.
  5. Brentford – Safe. Same story as Bournemouth
  6. Brighton – Safe. Same story as Bournemouth and Brentford.
  7. Everton- Safe. Also in European hunt
  8. Fulham – Safe. Also in European hunt.
  9. Sunderland – Safe. Same as Everton and Fulham
  10. Man City – Safe. Fighting for Premier League title, slight more rotation risk with DGW, FA Cup final and plethora of attacking options.
  11. Chelsea – Fairly Safe. Chasing Europe but also have FA Cup final to focus on.
  12. Nottingham Forest – Fairly Unsafe. Can still technically be relegated but a West Ham loss to Arsenal would guarantee safety. Also facing tons of injuries.
  13. Newcastle – Fairly Unsafe. Despite not much to play for, Howe will be keen to end season strong given job security issues.
  14. Leeds – Fairly unsafe. Can still mathematically be relegated but very unlikely. Strong rotation risk in GW37 & GW38.
  15. Liverpool – Fairly Unsafe. All but locked up UCL football. Safe this week but like Leeds, will be subject to rotation in final 2 weeks of season once UCL banked.
  16. Wolves – Fairly unsafe given not much to play for although have known for a while so their recent squads shouldn’t change too much.
  17. Burnley – Same as Wolves.
  18. Man United – Unsafe. UCL football locked up and nothing to play for. Carrick may want to finish strong to impress ownership. Casemiro minutes should be safe.
  19. Aston Villa – Unsafe. Attention will be on Europa league final. Also should lock up UCL football with win against 19th place Burnley.
  20. Crystal Palace – Unsafe. Nothing to play for in Prem and Europa Conference final to think about.

The Best Cole Palmer & Morgan Gibbs White Replacements

Gibbs-White was an unused sub during their Europa League semi-final defeat to Aston Villa following a brutal clash of heads with Chelsea keeper Robert Sanchez. Vitor Pereira described him as ‘not in condition to go on the pitch and help the team’ and followed by saying ‘I don’t know if he can recover for the next match’.

Cole Palmer is a different issue altogether. Chelsea can’t seem to score goals to save their life, and in his case even penalties.

If you own either and have 1 FTs, leaving either in your team is too risky right now. So here are the replacements we recommend.

  • Bukayo Saka – Arsenal have everything to play for, no fixture congestion and an easy run to end the season. The best option.
  • Rayan Cherki – As good an option as Saka, potentially better, but I am assuming you may own 3 City already. If not get him in. Slight more rotation risk than Saka however, which is why he finds himself 2nd.
  • Casemiro – Honestly, with his announcement that he is leaving United at the end of the season, I cant see them dropping him. They will let him sign off in style. In fact they may even let him take a penalty who knows.
  • Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – If you need a budget option then KDH is as good as any. The 5th highest Points per match amongst all midfielders. Everton also are in European hunt so his minutes should be very solid.
  • Eberechi Eze – If Saka is out the price range then Eze could be another solid route into the Arsenal fixtures. Although his minutes are slightly riskier.
