🏆 The Ingenuity Differential FPL Championship 2026/2027 – Official Rules

Welcome to the Ingenuity Differential FPL Championship — a league designed to reward real football knowledge, smart timing, and true differential picks. This Championship will commence at the beginning of the 2026/2027 Season but we are taking registrations now. So reach out if you’d be interested.

This is not your standard FPL league. Template teams won’t survive here.

📌 League Format

• Private league (code will be shared)
• Maximum 50 participants
• Runs for the full FPL 2026/2027 FPL season
• All teams will be manually tracked and reviewed weekly

Each manager will compete under strict player restrictions designed to eliminate template picks and reward ingenuity.

📏 Player Eligibility Rules

💰 Price Caps (Starting XI Only)

All players in your starting XI must remain strictly below the following price limits:

• Goalkeepers: Under £5.0m
• Defenders: Under £5.0m
• Midfielders: Under £6.5m
• Forwards: Under £7.0m

❗ Important:

• The cap is exclusive, not inclusive
  • £4.9m ✅ Eligible
  • £5.0m ❌ Ineligible
• If a player reaches the cap, they are:
  • ❌ Not allowed to score points in your starting XI
  • ✅ Allowed to remain in your squad
  • ✅ Allowed on your bench (see bench rules below)

📊 Ownership % Rule

• Any player with 10% ownership or higher is ineligible
• Ownership % is taken from the official FPL site at the Gameweek deadline

Summary:

• Below 10% ✅ Eligible
• 10% or above ❌ Ineligible

Same as price rules:

• Can remain in squad
• Cannot be in starting XI

⏱️ When Eligibility Is Checked

🔒 Price:

• Locked at Gameweek deadline
• If a player rises above the cap after the deadline, their points still count for that Gameweek

📊 Ownership:

• Locked at Gameweek deadline
• Any player at or above 10% at deadline is ineligible for that Gameweek

🧾 Final Validation:

• All eligibility is confirmed at the end of the Gameweek (after points are finalised)

🪑 Bench & Substitution Rules

• Bench players can be ineligible
• However:

🔁 If a player is subbed on:

• They will only score points if they are eligible
• If they are ineligible:
  • They will trigger penalty points

⚠️ Auto Subs:

• Treated exactly the same as starting XI
• If an ineligible player is auto-subbed on, penalties apply

⚠️ Penalty System

Starting or fielding an ineligible player results in a penalty.

📉 Penalty Formula:

Penalty = (Player’s Gameweek Points) + 4

Applied as negative points

Example:

• Player scores 8 points
• Penalty = -12 points

🚫 Disqualification Rule

• If a manager receives penalties in more than 5 separate Gameweeks:
  • ❌ They will be disqualified
  • ❌ Their team will no longer be tracked

This is to maintain fairness and reduce admin workload.

🃏 Chips

All standard FPL chips are fully allowed:

• Wildcard
• Free Hit
• Bench Boost
• Triple Captain

Note:

• All chip usage is still subject to eligibility rules
• Ineligible players will still trigger penalties

🏁 League Tracking & Transparency

• All teams will be:
  • Reviewed weekly
  • Manually checked for rule compliance
• We will maintain:
  • Overall leaderboard
  • Running penalty points tally

⚖️ Disputes & Appeals

• Managers are encouraged to monitor each other
• If an issue is spotted:
  • It can be raised for review
• We will allow:
  • Disputes
  • Appeals

Final decisions will be made after review.

🤝 Fair Play

Deliberately fielding ineligible players:

• Will result in penalties as outlined
• Repeated offences lead to disqualification

---

🏆 Prize

• 💰 Cash prize for the winner (amount to be confirmed)
• If multiple players finish level on points:
  • Prize will be split equally
