This is a make-or-break Gameweek 25 Wildcard! 🚨 Discover the ultimate draft to survive the season’s biggest turning point and gain rank.
We will kick of this piece with a key piece of information. If you were thinking about a Gameweek 24 Wildcard then do not worry, Gameweek 25 is absolutely not too late to do so. In fact, many good teams still have the majority of their great fixtures ahead of them. Even Chelsea are only a quarter of the way into that juicy sea of green fixtures.
Even with that in mind, if you are not happy with your team, have some injuries, players with changing roles or underperforming assets then a wildcard could be the answer for you. We created a Wildcard checklist that you can check, which determines how appropriate a wildcard is for you based on the assets. So make sure you check that out in our wildcard 24 article.

So without further ado, let’s get stuck into the best Gameweek 25 wildcard team.

It’s happened, I have graduated from the school of Gabriel, Timber, Rice to the school of Gabriel, Timber, Raya. Now let me explain why. Raya’s main competition at keeper would probably be Pickford, Roefs, Kelleher, Sanchez and Donnaruma, particularly by points scored.
Let’s start by eliminating Pickford, Roefs and Kelleher, as they all have absolutely rotten fixtures despite some recent good performances. That leaves Sanchez and Donnaruma. Sanchez would be a great option, but Chelsea’s defence did not look very sturdy against West Ham at all, and that was one of the supposed clean sheet games. This doesn’t fill me with much confidence for GW28, when Chelsea’s fixtures take a big turn and they face Arsenal, Villa, Newcastle, Everton then City.
Which leaves Donnaruma. Donnaruma is probably the 2nd best option after Raya, however, City have just been a tad open at the back of late, conceding 2 to Spurs and still dealing with major injuries across the backline. At least their fixtures are good, however, so if you did want to stick with Rice then Donnaruma is definitely your man.
Which leaves Raya, Arsenal’s attack and the nature of goals is so unpredictable that it’s making it hard to trust Rice at the moment. But what we can trust, is Arsenal’s clean sheet pedigree, which is why we are tripling up.
Essentially the decision boils down to this:
The Gap between Raya and other goalies > the gap between Rice and other midfielders (in Same Price Range).

£4m and starting. No need to elaborate.

The consensus best defender in FPL right now and it isn’t close. Best defence, great fixtures, good Defcon, perennial set-piece threat, bonus point monster. He can do it all.
It’s going to take more than a couple yellow cards to scare me off Timber. Any minutes concerns we had around Timber will now hopefully be a thing of the past, as he has proved integral to Arteta’s league campaign, and registered multiple 90-minute games in a row.
The Leeds and Forest games of late also showed us reminders of his attacking potential. Despite not registering a return, the involvement was there. He still leads all defenders in xGI on the season.
Now even though Chelsea’s defence didn’t look great against West Ham, it is still good to provide a bit of coverage, and the best way to do that is with Chalobah. He has now hit his DefCon threshold in 8 of his last 10 matches and as a result provides a much better floor than a Cucurella or James. He’s also not too shabby from set-pieces, with 3 goals and an assist already this season. These multiple routes to points combined with his safe minutes make him our favourite choice.
Mark my words, this man will be in everyone’s team soon enough. Not least now Palace have come into some good fixtures. Way back in Gameweek 5, near the start of the season, we stated that was your chance to get ahead of his points instead of playing catch up. Well now, the same opportunity has come back around. Palace’s attack is showing signs of life again despite maybe not achieving the goals they would have hoped. A 1.65 xG vs forest and a 2.42 xG against Chelsea are indicative of this.
So with Brighton, Burnley, Wolves, United, Spurs and Leeds in their next 6, I would be shocked if we do not see Palace’s attack start firing again.
These are also great defensive fixtures, meaning Munoz’ chance at points on either end is significant. He is also good for the occasional DefCon as well. Consider this your advanced warning to get him in.
Budget defenders don’t really come much better than James Hill. He appears to have locked down that starting spot next to Senesi and just in time for a fantastic run of fixtures. Not only are clean sheets back on the menu with a fixture run like this, but hill is also a Defcon beast. Hitting his DefCon threshold in 5 of the last 6, averaging 12 a game over the same stretch and only missing the threshold by 1 contribution in the one he didn’t hit.
For £3.9m, it simply doesn’t get much better.

Now granted Miley is mainly here as bench filler to make the budgets work but that’s not to say he isn’t a solid option. He has played 90 minutes in 9 of Newcastle’s last 12 league games. Given how Newcastle’s last game against Liverpool went, I can’t see him riding the bench next game.
Whether he plays right-back or centre-mid he is a great DefCon candidate, averaging close to 10 a game. He is also quite handy in the attacking 3rd as well, with a goal and 3 assists already this season.
Alternative: If you have the funds, Yasin Ayari and Elliot Anderson are fantastic options and would be our ideal candidates for this spot if we had the funds.
There’s no 2 ways around it, this man is just in such incredible form that he is impossible to ignore. He is City’s in form midfielder/winger right now and appears set for an extended run in the starting line-up, not least considering his form and Doku’s injury. If he does start to get rotated, you can always transfer him out but for now it looks like the starting spot is his.
Alternative: If you did have the extra funds you could easily pick a Bryan Mbeumo here, this is just a more cost friendly option.
Speaking of in-form players, Enzo Fernandez is the next man up. We spoke earlier about how unbelievable City’s fixtures were, so Enzo presents a perfect way in. He has 5 goals and an assist in his last 7 games and shows no signs of slowing down. Even with Palmer in the team, he has shown standalone value. So, with Palmer potentially facing minutes limitations due to an ongoing injury, Enzo’s ceiling may at times be even higher, as he could play even more advanced and be on penalties.
He also averages 0.6 xGI per 90, which is 2nd amongst all midfielders. So the underlying data would back up his return potential very strongly.
With 11 returns in his last 12 games, it is safe to say Wilson is staking his claim for the best value player in the game right now. Every game he is in and around the action, on set-pieces, driving at defences and just looks perpetually dangerous. Only 3 teams have scored more than Fulham in 2026 so it’s safe to say their attack is looking sharp right now.
So, with a run of fixtures that includes Everton, Sunderland, Spurs, West Ham, Forest and Burnley in their next 7, there is no reason the production should slow down. In fact, I’d say now is as good an entry point as ever to bring him in.
No serious wildcard team would be complete without this man in it. We’ve spoken before about his multiple routes to points, so if you needed any further evidence for it then look at his last 4 games. 0 goals scored, but 7, 10, 5, 10 point hauls. As his ability to get assists, DefCons and bonus points keep him permanently in a great spot for FPL points. A true FPL unicorn and alongside Gabriel, arguably the best asset in the game right now.

The form striker in the league right now alongside Ekitike. Both looked unbelievable on the weekend, and both have excellent fixtures.
Joao Pedro now has 5 goals and 2 assists in his last 4 games, truly unbelievable numbers. You’d hope that that sort of form would lock you into the starting line-up against Wolves, not least considering how stubborn their defence has been of late. Either way, this team will have good enough bench coverage depending to cover. His League cup minutes should give us a clue. To be honest as last week showed, he’s start-able even with only 45 minutes expected minutes.
This man is on thin ice right now. Were it not for mid-priced assets performing well, there’s a strong chance this guy would already be on the chopping block. The fixtures just are there however so he’s a very hard sell.
If you listened to anything we wrote over the last few weeks, you would’ve known not to sell this man. So, if you did and are now thinking about buying him back because he hauled, just know this point chasing approach to FPL will only do your rank more harm than good.
Transfers out should be reserved for these reasons only:
A couple of blanks does not warrant a transfer out if the player’s role, chances, minutes etc are all still there. Just be patient. Following the City game, Ekitike’s fixtures are electric, so he is an absolute must-own in any wildcard team.

Over the next few weeks, you will have plenty of creators tell you to really load up on Everton, Wolves assets etc ahead of the DGW26. Personally, I am going to take the chance that Arsenal will get through over Chelsea, meaning the likely doubling teams will be Arsenal and Wolves. Now, given we already have triple Arsenal, the only other planning we may need to do is potentially bring in Wolves players.
However, given this is a wildcard, we will be aiming to minimize transfers down the line, and there’s no way I’m sitting with multiple Wolves players in my team as they will not be starting in any other week. I back every single defender, midfielder (except Miley) and attacker to outscore any Wolves counterpart in 3 games compared with 4 for Wolves players. So please do not worry about loading up on Everton or Wolves players. Even Pickford’s 2 fixtures would be 2 of the league’s top 5 attacks.
This team strikes a great mid-ground between form and fixtures and allows managers to be flexible in the coming weeks.
There are a few possible alternatives that could be done to this team based on preference.
