Don’t mess up your Gameweek 24 Captains! 📈 Compare the top 3 picks, including Haaland and Bruno, plus some juicy differential options!
For those keeping score at home that’s now 5 blanks in Haaland’s last 6 games, meaning the captaincy door is now wide open. He did only get a 17-minute run out against Wolves however so we must take the most recent blank with a pinch of salt.
Nonetheless, Haaland again received a full 90 minutes in midweek against Galatasaray, meaning another potential minute’s reduction could be in order for the weekend. All accounts do suggest he is starting, however.
That being said, we are hardly short of captaincy options this week, with many of the best options coming from teams who were not involved in Wednesday’s theatrics.

Let’s get stuck into the best Gameweek 24 Captains.

There is no 2 ways around it, Spurs have been absolutely dreadful this season and currently only have 1 win in their last 8 games in the league. City v Spurs always seems to be a high scoring contest as well, meaning Haaland could be nicely positioned for some returns.

I haven’t got enough positive words to say about this man at the moment. Amongst all players with more than 5 starts this season, Bruno Fernandes currently holds the 2nd highest xGI per 90, 2nd only to Haaland, with 0.70xGI. He also leads the league in assists and is 3rd in total goal contributions despite missing 3 games, averages 10.34 defensive contributions per game, is 2nd amongst all players for bonus points, and plays for one of the league’s most in form attacks.
Brighton had no issues creating chances against Fulham last week, so you can’t help but feel players of Bruno, Mbeumo and Cunha’s quality will be much better positioned to convert should Fulham offer up similar opportunities. A great captaincy option this week.

If, like me, you are slightly concerned about Haaland’s minutes, then Semenyo offers a fantastic alternative into the same fixture. His ineligibility to play in Europe midweek should land him in good stead to start this weekend.
With his minutes being safe, his hot start to life at the Etihad should provide would be captainers with some hope of him getting a return. Spurs have also been really week dealing with balls into the box all season, which is an area Semenyo loves to join the attack, he is by no means a touchline hugger.

Chelsea have been in good form since Rosenior took over, winning 3 on the bounce and scoring 8 goals in the process. Enzo in particular has 4 goals and an assist in his last 6 games in all comps. He carries a very high xGI per 90 of 0.62 into one of the best fixture runs of the season. West Ham have conceded the most goals in the league this season and are also yet to keep a clean sheet since August, meaning I will be absolutely shocked if there are not multiple goals in this contest.
With Palmer on the field Enzo has still shown great attacking ability, particularly in the creative sense, but when Palmer is off the field, Enzo takes on much more attacking responsibility and even penalty duties. Which, given Palmer’s current injury battles, is definitely a possibility.

There is no 2 ways around it, Joao Pedro looked absolutely electric against Napoli, bagging himself a brace in the process. Normally, playing a full 90 in midweek would be of concern for FPL managers, particularly when it’s a player who has been subject to rotation all year. But when they put in a performance like that, it will make it very hard for any manager to move him to the bench.
With quality playmakers around him, should JP get the start, he will be in a fantastic position for a big haul. Not least considering West Ham have conceded the most goals in the league this season.

If you own this man he is undoubtedly a strong captain this week, as he is this week’s contestant in the game show ‘Whose Playing Wolves?’ That being said, Wolves’ defence has actually been slightly better since the new year so maybe it is not the walk in the park it once was.
Nonetheless they are still rock bottom, Evalison has scored 3 in his last 4 and Bournemouth’s attack is in great form. All signs point towards that form continuing.

Our final and super differential captaincy option this week is my favourite FPL player in the game, Daniel Munoz. Anytime Munoz is playing a team who sit in the bottom 5 going forward and defending he will be a great captaincy option given his propensity to get points on both ends, and Forest is one of them. Forest currently sit 3rd bottom for xGA and have scored the 2nd least goals in the league this season. Both of these stats make Munoz an exciting captaincy pick this week, as it both doubles his floor and ceiling.
Palace’s current form is why he finds himself down here for now however, but good fixtures are more than incapable of snapping bad form, so if you’re feeling brave then why not.
