Maximize your FPL rank! 🚀 Get the ultimate GW24 Wildcard team, featuring must-have Man Utd and Chelsea assets, enablers and differentials.
The first major wildcard checkpoint is finally upon us. Gameweek 24. It’s no secret that this fixture swing has been a great wildcard opportunity all season.
But, is wildcarding the right option or not?
The answer is simple; it completely depends on your team. We will shortly list out assets where, if you own them, we advise that your team is probably good enough already and you should save your wildcard for a future date to help you target the upcoming blanks and doubles.
Those assets are as follows:
The more of these you own, the less you need to wildcard. Which is partly why we prefer the wildcard a bit later on. However there are definitely some situations in which case it makes sense to go for the GW24 wildcard. Like the above list, here is a list of assets where, the more of them you own, the more we would advise using your wildcard in GW24.
These should give you a solid steer on if a wildcard is right for you. Feel free to ask any questions in the replies however!
With that in mind, if you are still set on a wildcard then we’ve got you covered right here. A quick reminder to check in with our Predicted Line-Ups and Team News Hub before locking in any changes.

Anyway, without further ado, let’s get stuck into the Gameweek 24 Wildcard team.

Even though Pickford is currently leading all goalkeepers in points, I cannot in good faith recommend a goalkeeper with these fixtures from GW26-GW33:

The whole point of a wildcard is to minimize the need for transfers down the line.
Donnarumma is only £0.1m more, plays for the team who have conceded the 2nd least goals all season, 3rd lowest xGA, 5 clean sheets in their last 9, Guehi bolstering defence and – unlike Pickford – actually has some really nice upcoming fixtures:

£4m and starting. All you need.

With that Man United fixture out the way, Gabriel remains the best defensive asset in FPL. Arsenal still have far and away the best defence in the league and still only gave up 0.64 xG to United despite conceding 3. Keep the faith. He’s a clean sheet machine, perpetual set-piece threat and occasional Defcon-er. THE defender to own right now.
If there’s one thing Timber owners can rest assured about moving forward now, it’s his minutes. His versatility makes him a priority across the entire backline and his 5 starts in a row in the league should prove that. He also carries a solid threat going forward, leading all defenders in xGI this season.
I can’t remember a team having a stretch of 4 fixtures quite like this. Chelsea have unbelievable fixtures coming up so tripling up on them will definitely be the move. Our defender of choice is Chalobah as a result.
Nailed for minutes and hitting the Defcon threshold in 7 of his last 9 games, Chalobah projects for multiple 8+ pointers during this stretch. If you are feeling more adventurous this could definitely be a Cucurella type. But given Chalobah is cheaper and also a solid threat from set-pieces, we prefer him.
If you have read anything I’ve written this season you will know I absolutely love me some Munoz. These were his 8 game points scores before his injury: 8, 10, 2, 6, 6, 14, 1, 14.
His ability to score points on both ends makes him an unbelievable asset. So, when you combine that with Palace’s upcoming fixtures, boy does it bode well:

An ESSENTIAL for any GW24 wildcard team.
2nd amongst all defenders for total xGI, Senesi is essentially Bournemouth’s deep lying playmaker. Leading the league in balls into the final 3rd. Combine that with the fact he is also 1st amongst all defenders for total defensive contributions and in theory you’re onto an elite asset. Especially at a price point of £4.8m.
So why is he not essential? Because Bournemouth can’t keep goals out. This means that ownership of Senesi will only be a good option during easier fixture schedules, like right now. Where clean sheet potential + DefCon + attacking return potential all provide Senesi with a superb floor and ceiling:

I hate to break it to you, but any wildcard team without this man in it is unserious and you should unfollow anyone whose wc team does not include him. Man United’s attack is absolutely cooking right now, and Bruno is at the heart of it all. With 3 assists, 1 Defcon threshold and an xGI of around 0.6 per 90 since his return from injury, it’s safe to say Bruno is back and here to stay. Goals, assists, DefCon, Bonus points, the man can do it all. United have solid fixtures right up until the end of the season as well so you can set and forget him.
Now this spot could easily be a Semenyo or Rogers depending on preference, but we have gone for Mbeumo. This Man United attack looks very high powered at the moment and Mbeumo has found himself up front for both games since his return.
He is one of the league’s best finishers and with Fernandes now in the 10 role, should continue to be served ample opportunities. His xGI per 90 of 0.6 would also suggest his output is sustainable.
As mentioned with Fernandes, United have solid fixtures right up until the end of the season meaning his inclusion should in theory allow you to preserve plenty of FTs.
If he continues to start in that 9 position, then his ceiling could be crazy high.
We mentioned Chelsea’s unbelievable fixtures earlier in the article so it should be no surprise to see Enzo feature. He currently has 7 goals and 3 assists already this season and with those upcoming fixtures and Palmer still wrestling an injury, his attacking involvement, including pens, seems set to continue. He averages 0.6 xGI per 90, has the best fixtures in the league and costs only £6.7m. No need to overthink this one.
Speaking of budget ballers, Wilson walks into his spot in this team. With 11 returns in his last 11 matches and a total of 16 bonus points already this season, Wilson is making a mockery of his price tag. His recent returns against Chelsea, Liverpool and City show that he is also fixture proof, so if you were worried about the upcoming fixtures against United and City, don’t be. He’s only £6m anyway so not like you’re risking much.
Despite cooling off a bit recently, Rice is still FPL’s highest scoring midfielder. This is in no small part due to his potential to get points everywhere. Combine his 4 goals and 7 assists this season with the fact he is 6th amongst all midfielders for DefCons and you’re onto a winning asset. This combination also lands him in great stead for bonus points and is why he is 2nd amongst all midfielders for BP, behind only Bruno Fernandes.
Honestly being Arsenal’s set-piece taker is the same as being a penalty taker given their current system.

I’ll admit it, 5 blanks in his last 6 is far from ideal. But it is hard to see that continuing given their upcoming fixtures and his desire to get back amongst the goals.
For now, the striker job at Chelsea seems to be his, and he has rewarded Rosenior’s faith in him with 2 goals in his last 2 in the league.  Any striker with those 4 upcoming fixtures would likely feature in a wildcard team, so when they also play for a high power attack like Chelsea’s, it makes it doubly exciting. Even with the small risk of rotation, the bench depth on this team allows for riskier minute punts like this.
We spoke earlier about Bournemouth’s upcoming fixtures, which made Kroupi the perfect final striker for this team. For some reason he can’t seem to get more than 70 minutes a game but in case this picks up and he starts firing, we will already have him waiting in the wings and not require a transfer. Hardly like he’s consuming any budget and only £4.6m

Much like Gameweek 23’s wildcard team, this team preaches flexibility and the limiting of future transfers. Which will be necessary coming the blanks and double period. There was a deliberate effort to target City, United, Arsenal and Chelsea for obvious reasons, while also covering some of the form players from other teams.
One possible alternative you could look at is remixing the Arsenal triple up. Which we do not mind given how many strong midfielders there are in the league and the difficult choice faced at the goalkeeper spot.
For example, you could swap out Donnaruma and Rice for Raya and Semenyo/Rogers if you don’t trust City’s defence or have cooled off on Rice’s attacking return potential. Semenyo should be in line for the lion’s share of minutes in the league given his ineligibility to play in European games.
This means we do not mind an Arsenal triple-up at the back despite shipping 3 to United. They are still head and shoulders above any other defence in the league and again would mean you do not need to worry about transferring any of them out until the end of the season.
