FPL Gameweek 13 – Players to Buy, Sell or Hold

GW13 Transfer Time is Here! Find out which players are MUST-BUYS, who you need to SELL, and which to HOLD onto this week.

FPL Gameweek 13 – Players to Buy, Sell or Hold

With the template undergoing some quite large shifts, we take an in depth look at some of FPL’s most transferred in and most transferred out players to try to guide you through all the hype.

With quite a few injuries arising, especially some key ones like Gabriel, there is naturally going to be a much higher amount of squad turnover than usual. But one key rule about FPL is you do not want to be stuck points chasing, as ideally, we want to get ahead of the points.

Also, make sure before transferring in or out any of these players, to check in with our Predicted Line-Ups Hub. No one wants to transfer players in who may end u being minutes risks down the line.

Also, if like me you’re one of the many on Free Hit this week, then make sure you check out our Gameweek 13 Free Hit draft. Simple, affordable but very effective. So make sure you give it a look.

Anyway, without further ado, let’s get stuck into Gameweek 13’s Best players to Buy, Sell or Hold.

Eberechi Eze – £7.7m

Eze absolutely lit up the NLD with a hat trick. Becoming the first player to do so since Alan Sunderland in 1978. What’s even more significant, is how attacking and fluid Arsenal looked.

The game was a complete domination, and Eze was at the heart of it all. Despite their reputation for set pieces, Arsenal’s open play attacking prowess was also on full display, which bodes well for Arsenal’s attacking assets.

However, despite scoring a hat trick, it is important to exercise caution before diving straight in. Both Odegaard and Havertz are slated to return this week. Which combined with Arsenal’s super congested fixture period and superior depth, could spell trouble for Eze’s minutes. Nonetheless he should see plenty of the pitch. So, if you already have 3 Arsenal assets or don’t have many transfers we probably wouldn’t move for him. But if you already own him then sit back and enjoy. Hold Him.

Morgan Rogers – £6.9m

Now this is a tricky one. Aston Villa had started off the season terribly but have since turned it around. Winning 6 of their last 7. Rogers has also upped his individual contributions with 5 in his last 7. So we bring him in right? Not exactly

Despite Villa’s resurgence I’m not exactly moved by their fixtures. Arsenal twice, United, Chelsea and Brighton in their next 7 isn’t screaming good fixtures to me. Although admittedly it could be worse. It is more his flash in the pan nature that is putting me off. Even during their resurgence he has hardly been in an around nearly as much action as we’d normally like, totalling only 0.16 xGI per 90 this year. Another problem is the existence of assets like Rice at this price point who we much prefer. Maybe if we see him continue this form then we can move him into the Buy category. But until I see more consistency, he is firmly in the hold category. Hold Him.

Joao Pedro – £7.5m

This week’s 3rd most transferred out player is none other than Joao Pedro. It feels like Joao Pedro has been the subject of Buy, Sell or Hold debates for weeks on end now with tons of varying answers.

Now even though he has 2 goals in his last 3, and is averaging a whopping 0.94 xGI per 90 in his last 3, Chelsea’s fixtures are about to get a lot harder. They play 4 of the top 8 defences for xGA in their next 5 including leaders Arsenal. If he had showed consistency throughout the year, or if great alternatives like Thiago had not emerged then he would likely be a hold. But those fixtures and alternatives have pushed him into the Sell Category. Sell Him.

Cody Gakpo – £7.5m

Gakpo is a player I have seen a lot of people both selling and bringing into their teams. It is no secret that Liverpool have unbelievable fixtures over the next 8 or so weeks. When he has played, Gakpo has looked very threatening, registering an xGI per 90 of 0.64. However he does have a few drawbacks. The 1st is his minutes. No one quite knows how Liverpool will line up most games, and particularly with a packed Christmas schedule. We have even heard rumours of Ekitike or Isak coming off the left.

The 2nd and perhaps more concerning one, is Liverpool’s current form. They look completely out of sorts on both ends and have been struggling to get anything going. However, despite this, his underlying numbers and those incredible fixtures make him a very hard sell. But also, we would not be moving for him either at the moment. Hold Him.

Virgil Van Dijk – £6m

Another very tricky option and one who we understand a lot of people parachuted in as a Gabriel replacement. Like Gakpo, Van Dijk also profiles as a great FPL asset, not least considering those fixtures. But is also currently subjected to the club he plays for. Unlike Gakpo however, Van dijk has much more secure minutes, meaning for us he probably does dodge the Sell Category for now, but they are both ones to monitor. Hold him. Give him at least 1 more week, then if you don’t already own Munoz or Timber then move to one of them in 14.

Yankuba Minteh – £6.1m

Now I absolutely love Brighton so you can probably see where this is going. Minteh has been consistently dangerous all season and Brighton have been absolutely flying of late as a result.

Their next 4 are against 4 of the bottom 6 defences by xGA so we should likely see plenty of goals.Perhaps the best part about Minteh is his price and the route to him. He is the perfect move from a Caicedo or Reijnders type player and is averaging a very healthy 0.4 xGI per 90. A bargain at £6.1m. Minteh is also not off to AFCON given Gambia’s failure to qualify. Buy Him.

Jeremy Doku – £6.5m

Another trickier one. Doku’s recent performances, particularly against Liverpool, have meant he has been able to string together 3 starts in a row for City. However, as ever with a lot of City assets there is always the chance he gets rotated.

When he does play however, he averages a very healthy 0.47 xGI per 90 and is very direct and involved in a lot of the build-up play.

One of the key drivers in his favour however are City’s fixtures. Not that its gospel but they do not have a single red fixture on their FDR for the next 10 GWs. So when you combine these fixtures along with his small price tag of only £6.5m, we really like Doku as an option. Even with the slight risk to minutes. Buy Him.

Antoine Semenyo – £7.9m

Now we understand Semenyo was injured but this is hardly a DefCon 5 Gabriel situation. By all accounts Semenyo could be back as early as this weekend or at minimum it seems by next week. If Bournemouth had bad fixtures then this would be a no brainer. But if you haven’t sold Semenyo yet we would probably hold onto him. He may even be a Buy once he is back from injury given the swing in his ownership and Bournemouth’s upcoming fixtures, particularly for an attacker. For now though given he will be back soon, the fixtures are good and we know how good he can be, he is a definite hold. Hold Him.
