This is the first of our new, Champions League accumulator tips article here at Ingenuity, coming every Champions League Matchday, and Matchday 5 has some very enticing games we feel great about putting some money down on and winning big! We’ve come back from the international break and had a crazy Premier League weekend with a very entertaining North London derby, a Liverpool shocker at home to Forest and a drama filled win for Newcastle over Manchester City, and now the sides switch their focus to Europe. Unlike a lot of Premier League fans, I do enjoy and pay close attention to other leagues from La Liga, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Serie A, even the Eredivisie and Primeira Liga; how else am I going to spot all the next best talents I want Liverpool to sign or to sign in my FM save or EA FC career mode! So I hope that serves us well, and without further ado let’s check out our 26/1 Champions League accumulator for this week’s games!

Acca Leg Reasonings:
Over 2.5 Total Goals in Liverpool vs PSG:
Liverpool’s defence has been very poor of late but their attack still creates a high level of chances against a team that plays in a much less talented and physical league – a bad defence and a good attack usually leads to high scoring games.
These two teams played in last season’s Champions ended in a 3-2 win for PSV, and all we need is 3 goals in this one.
Real Madrid to Win vs Olympiacos:
Madrid are winless in their last 3 games (Liverpool, Rayo Vallecano and Elche) but are still sitting 1st in La Liga with 1 loss in 13, and they will be determined to right the ship in their crown jewel competition, the Champions League.
They are facing a team that is quite simply not on the same planet talent or coaching wise. Anything other than a win would be embarrassing for Madrid, their players and Alonso, and I do not believe they will let that happen.
PSG to Win vs Tottenham:
While these two teams did meet in the UEFA Super Cup and it ended in a 2-2 draw, if you watched that game you know Spurs came out playing fantastic football in and out of possession, in a game that probably meant more to them than PSG, and took a 2-0 lead. But they could not hold up that level of play and intensity against a team this talented and PSG clawed it back. I expect Luis Enrique to have a better gameplan and have his team more ready for Spurs in this game than a glorified pre-season friendly.
PSG are getting healthy with stars returning, and have won their last 2 league games against Lyon and Le Havre whereas Spurs were just resoundingly thrashed 4-1 in the North London derby on the weekend. Thomas Frank’s Spurs reign started tremendously but their form has petered of late and they have one win in their last 5 games in all comps, with that win coming over FC Copenhagen.
Both Teams to Score in Arsenal vs Bayern Munich:
Bayern are a tremendous attacking side, one of the three best in Europe and their attack and constant movement and manipulation of midfields and defences will allow them to score against even the best defences, which Arsenal are.
With Hincapie in the side instead of Gabriel, Arsenal are a weaker defensive side and have conceded in their last 2 games vs Sunderland (conceded 2) and Spurs.
Arsenal having just scored 4 against Spurs, and starting to play more free flowing and less pragmatic football shouldn’t have a problem creating chances against Bayern and will particularly be an issue for them on set-pieces. Bayern won’t be used to such a physical side.
Both Teams to Score AND Over 2.5 Total Goals in Chelsea vs Barcelona:
If you know anything about Barcelona games, you know that Over 2.5 goals and Both Teams to Score is a near banker. In their 19 games in all competitions this season 95% of those have gone over 2.5 Total Goals.
Chelsea are a very good attacking side and will absolutely exploit Barcelona’s high line and less than watertight defence to score.
Man City to Win vs Bayer Leverkusen:
While City are coming off a loss to Newcastle, Leverkusen won’t present the same physical challenges and City will look to bounce back strong at home.
Leverkusen have found some good form and consistency since sacking Eric Ten Haag and sit 3rd in the Bundesliga but when they face top opposition, like against Bayern Munich recently, the talent they have lost and the loss of Alonso is on full display. There should be a gulf between these two sides that leads to a comfortable City win.
Napoli to Win over Qarabag:
Napoli are coming off a 3-1 win over Atalanta on the weekend and the Italian champions should take care of a team from Azerbaijan fairly routinely at home.
