What was wrong with the default pitches?

In many saves players were complaining that FM26’s standard pitch textures felt flat, lifeless or too generic. Over-bright green surfaces, little variation in wear and tear, unrealistic mowing lines and artificial, overly uniform finishes were all flagged. Not the sort of standards you expect from a game which has invested so much time and energy into its new matchday feature and engine.

  • “The High preset also many times makes the pitch way too bright to the point that the ball becomes barely visible … really eye-straining and irritating.” Reddit

  • “It is VERY bright and washed out. To the point I initially thought it had activated HDR mode … but no … that’s just how the pitch looks.” Reddit

  • “Why is the grass so bright that it hurts to look at … this is one of many questions in the riddle that is FM26.” Reddit

  • “That green is far too bright.”

In short: the immersion was lacking and the colour scheme was not friendly on the eyes at all. For users who like the aesthetics of their stadium to match their tactical immersion, especially while not burning their eyes, this was a let-down.

Why this pack from BassyBoy is so good

BassyBoy has gone above and beyond by delivering five distinct pitch variants, each designed to suit different styles and conditions. Not only did it add a necessary dose of realism to the pitches, it also made staring at them way easier on the eyes. An essential for those long FM seshes. The additions according to the resource page:

  • Weathered Grass – realistic, slightly worn, marks of use. FM Base

  • Green UCL – vivid, strong contrast version reminiscent of European elite. FM Base

  • Unperfect – naturally irregular surface texture. FM Base

  • Shot to Bits – rough, heavily used surface for late-season realism. FM Base

  • Turf – clean, modern hybrid/artificial look. FM Base

He also provides clear installation instructions and makes it easy to swap between variants, meaning you can customise your stadium look depending on your club’s standard, competition or league level.

How to install it

Simple walkthrough:

  1. Choose your preferred variant from the five bundles. FM Base

  2. Navigate to the FM26 install folder (varies by Steam/Epic/Store). FM Base

  3. Back up the original art-stadiums-pitch_assets_all.bundle file. FM Base

  4. Replace with your chosen variant.

  5. Launch FM26 and enjoy the improved visuals.
If something looks off, swap to another variant or restore the original.

Final thoughts

For anyone who cares about how their stadium and pitch look, this download is a game-changer. BassyBoy’s work brings FM26’s pitch visuals in line with the level of detail we expect these days. The difference is unmistakable: from pristine UCL-style green to gritty worn-out winter pitches, you get choice and realism.

The fact that the pack is so easy to install and switch between variants only adds to its value. If you’ve been feeling the game was visually lacking in the turf department, this pack will fix that.

So go ahead, hit the download link, pick your favourite look and give your club’s home ground the fresh coat it deserves.
