Gameweek 11 – Best FPL Captains

Now even though captaincy has boiled down to some more traditional options, it remains a great area to gain ground on from a differential point of view. Particularly when the overwhelming favourite has a slightly trickier fixture than normal. Naturally this blows the door wide open from a captaincy standpoint.

Make sure you check in with our Predicted Line-Ups before locking in your captaincy choices.

With Erling Haaland’s ruthless streak continuing, including last week’s silencing of the doubters. Do you dare go against him as the best captain for Gameweek 11?

Whether you decide to or not, here are the best captains for Gameweek 11. Remember, If you are interested in other differential options to help you chase rank, then make sure you also check out BigManBakar’s best differential options for Gameweek 11.

Erling Haaland v Liverpool (H)

It would be disingenuous to start a best captains for Gameweek 11 list without the imperious Norwegian. We probably don’t need to add to much detail to this given the context. One key bit of info to add however is the current state of the Liverpool defence. Liverpool have been on a torrid run of late shipping 9 goals in their last 5 games, even with the clean sheet against Villa. They also sit 4th in the Prem for xGA, meaning even the goals they have shipped were hardly flukes. This fixture is not a scary one for attackers at all at the moment and thus managers can feel a certain degree of confidence in captaining him.

Gabriel  Magalhães v Sunderland (A)

Another fantastic captaincy option this week is Arsenal’s Gabriel. Despite Sunderland sitting 2nd in the Premier League. Their attack is hardly one to be scared of. Most of their success has been formed on the foundation of a solid defence, which has conceded the 2nd least goals in the league, and sits 5th lowest for xGA. Their attack however is a much different story. They sit mid-table for goals scored and are in the bottom 6 for xG. Which is fantastic reading if you own the best defender on the best defence in the league. With a great attacking threat, 8+ DefCons in every game the past 7 GWs and 13 Bonus points already this season. The stage is set for the Brazilian to haul big time.

Jurrien Timber v Sunderland (A)

We do not need to go into too much detail about the Arsenal v Sunderland match-up as we have already covered it in the Gabriel segment. But one area we do want to note where Timber could be a particularly effective option is going forward. He averages 0.31 xGI per 90 to Gabriel’s 0.15 xGI. Were Arsenal up against a weaker defence, Timber could therefore prove a fantastic differential captain to a Gabriel. Nonetheless, this extra attacking output still lands him on the Best Captains for Gameweek 11 radar.

Joao Pedro v Wolves (H)

Despite 5 blanks in a row, the Brazilian was back with a bang (in FPL terms) against Spurs in their last outing. Anyone who watched the game knows he could’ve had way more and while this is true, it bodes well for his opportunities moving forward. He’s looking to build off his whopping 1.99 xGI against Spurs against a Wolves side who have conceded the most goals in the league at 22. An average of 2.2 goals a game. Mix in the fact that Chelsea are also at home and you have all the makings of a huge haul. Another fantastic differential captaincy option.

Jarrod Bowen v Burnley (H)

To say West Ham needed that result against Newcastle would be an understatement. Not only was it a win, but it was a win against a UCL team who had only lost 2 of their last 7, with 1 being against leaders Arsenal. West Ham’s emphatic win has arrived just in time for the best fixture on the calendar, Burnley at home. Burnley sit 3rd for totals goals conceded and 1st for xGA. West Ham and Nuno wil thereforel be hoping to ride this new found momentum straight into another emphatic win. Which could mean a big haul for main man Jarrod Bowen could be on the cards.

DCL v Nottingham Forest (A)

Lol, imagine.
