Gameweek 10 – Brad Mayor’s FPL Buy, Sell or Hold

Gameweek 9 saw another points-filled weekend with players like Van de Ven, Rodon, and Mbeumo scoring big. We’ll look at the most pressing dilemmas ahead of Gameweek 10. Who to buy, who to sell, and who to hold.

Tijjani Reijnders

Tijjani Reijnders was in this article last week and advised to sell him due to the issue of him getting fewer minutes now that more players are returning to fitness for Man City. He started as the holding midfielder at the weekend due to Rodri’s absence, as well as Kovacic and Nico not being fit enough to start the game. Nico did end up coming on in the second half, which pushed Reijnders further forward. Although the Dutchman did get more minutes this week, he is still a sell this week as there are much better options if you’ve got some funds to spend.

Conclusion: Sell

Ismaïla Sarr

One of those options is Ismaïla Sarr from Crystal Palace. He has blanked in the last two games, but before that, he had 3 goals and 1 assist in just 5 games in the Premier League. There is also a lack of other good midfielders at his price point. Enzo and Ndiaye are ok options, but I much prefer Sarr if you are looking for a Reijnders replacement.

Conclusion: Buy

João Pedro

Last week, I said that João Pedro was a hold, mainly due to his chances of playing as a number 10 rather than a striker. It turns out it doesn’t matter where on the pitch he plays, he still isn’t getting involved in the goals. Despite fantastic fixtures against Wolves and Burnley in Gameweeks 11 and 12, it’s time to sell the Brazilian as there is a standout replacement at a very similar price.

Conclusion: Sell

Jean-Philippe Mateta

That replacement is Jean-Philippe Mateta. We’ve seen how good Crystal Palace are at creating chances for the French striker this season, as only Haaland has had more this season. Admittedly, he has missed quite a lot of them, but he’s getting so many that it doesn’t matter too much. Now that the Arsenal fixture is out of the way, Palace have Brentford, Brighton, and Wolves up next, so bringing in Palace players should be a top priority this week.

Conclusion: Buy

Viktor Gyökeres

Arsenal’s new striker has been incredibly disappointing from an FPL perspective this season, as he’s blanked in all of his last 5 games. He certainly wouldn’t be a player that I would be buying or including on wildcard right now, but I would be holding onto him for a couple more weeks. It’s Burnley and Sunderland up next for Arsenal, so I would give him those two games and then look to sell him around Gameweek 12.

Conclusion: Hold
