Brighton Predicted Lineup:

Brighton Team News:

Diego Gomez suffered a thigh injury on national team duty with Paraguay, according to Angel Elian of Radio Nanduti. Gomez started in the 10 role in GW7 vs Wolves, after scoring a hattrick against Barnsley in the EFL Cup. A thigh injury days before Brighton play doesn’t look good, and Rutter should likely come back in to the starting lineup for Gomez.

Mitoma did not go away with the Japenese national team during the international break. He is expected to be back after the international break. Whether he will actually be fit to start vs Newcastle is still up in the air. Gruda was Mitoma’s replacement against Wolves, playing on the right while Minteh moved to the left-wing. The same would likely happen if Mitoma was deemed to not be fit to start.

Jack Hinshelwood could return following the international break, according to manager Fabien Hurzeler. “Jack is progressing well, and hopefully we will see him soon after the international break”, which sounds like while a return is around the corner, GW8 might be too soon.

Veltman was out for the game vs Wolves but could return to the matchday squad for Newcastle. De Cuyper should come back in to the starting lineup for Kadioglu. Wieffer will continue to start at right-back.

Brighton Players to Watch:

Gomez: Likely out with thigh injury picked up on international duty.

Mitoma: Was out vs Wolves, could return after the international break. Training reports will be key.

De Cuyper: Should return to the starting XI in Kadioglu’s place.

Rutter: Will start in the 10 role.

Gruda: Would be Mitoma’s replacement if he is not fit to start.

Hinshelwood: Return is around the corner. GW8 likely too soon.

Veltman: Should return to the squad.

Newcastle United Predicted Lineup:

Newcastle Team News:

Yoanna Wissa has suffered a setback with his knee injury and is now set to miss eight weeks recovering from this knee injury according to Keith Downie of Sky Sports.

Tino Livramento is set to be out 8 weeks. He has already received injections on his knee according to manager Eddie Howe.Howe revealed “He went to see a specialist and the scan initially looked better than we thought it was. The specialist confirmed it is an eight-week injury, which is a blow for us with the number of games we have in that period. It is a ligament injury and that’s why it will take time to recover. He’s already had a couple of injections in the ligament to strengthen it up”. Looks like 7 more weeks without Livramento. With Hall a doubt, that would lead Trippier and Burn to start at full-back.

Jacob Ramsey was not fit to make the squad for Nottingham Forest in GW7. We will get further reports on his status on Friday. Lewis Miley is dealing with a calf issue that forced him to withdraw from international duty with England U21, according to Craig Hope of The Daily Mail. We will await further details on that.

A big injury for Newcastle with Livramento already out, is Lewis Hall who is dealing with a hamstring injury. Eddie Howe revealed after the Forest game that “He felt his hamstring vs Union. It’s a real blow for us. He’s had it scanned & needs a rescan in 10 days before we know (the timescale). It won’t be a short-term injury, but we’re hoping it won’t be long-term either”. Hall was set to have a re-scan early this week, so we will get further news in Howe’s Friday press conference but given Howe said it won’t be short-term, you have to think this weekend might be too soon for the England full-back.

Botman and Thiaw should start at centre-back with Burn shifting to left-back with the injuries to Hall and Livramento.

Elanga started in GW7 vs Forest, facing his former club. Murphy certainly could come back in to the starting lineup however.

Newcastle Players to Watch:

Livramento: Out 7 more weeks.

Hall: Potentially out for this game dealing with a hamstring injury.

Burn: Will shift out to left-back if Hall is not fit to start.

Ramsey: Could return this weekend.

Miley: Withdrew from England U-21 duty with a calf issue.

Wissa: Had a setback on his knee injury and could miss 6-8 more weeks.
