Brad Mayor brings you his most pressing buy, sell or hold players in FPL for GW7. Buy, sell or hold Bruno, Sarr, Joao Pedro, Watkins & others!
Gameweek 6 saw another points-filled weekend with players like Longstaff, Alderete and Gabriel scoring big. We’ll look at the most pressing dilemmas ahead of Gameweek 7. Who to buy, who to sell, and who to hold.
João Pedro has been sold by over 300,000 managers ahead of Gameweek 7, where Chelsea face Liverpool. The Brazilian has blanked in the last two games and hasn’t even looked like threatening the opposition’s goal. This is in no small part down to the fact that Chelsea have gone down to ten men in both games. In the match against Man United, Maresca took off all of his attackers other than João Pedro, meaning he didn’t really stand a chance at an attacking return. However, Chelsea have some nice fixtures coming up with Nottingham Forest, Sunderland, and Wolves all in their next 5.
Conclusion: Hold
Bruno Fernandes left FPL managers disappointed after he missed a penalty, picked up a yellow card, and finished one defensive contribution away from the threshold against Brentford. There is some controversy about whether the Portuguese midfielder will still be the designated penalty taker after two misses this season already. The most likely candidates to take the next one, if it isn’t Bruno, would be Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha. However, they have both already missed a penalty this season in the shootout against Grimsby. Therefore, I think it’s more likely that Fernandes keeps his penalty-taking duty, which makes him fine to hold for now.
Conclusion: Hold
Another week, another Ollie Watkins section of this article. The English striker finally found the back of the net against Fulham at the weekend after five blanks. Aston Villa have another nice fixture in Gameweek 7 against Burnley at home. Burnley have statistically been the worst defence in the league so far this season. Therefore, I would keep Watkins for one more week.
Conclusion: Hold
As expected, Cody Gakpo was finally subject to rotation in Gameweek 6 for Liverpool’s game against Crystal Palace. He started on the bench with Wirtz playing in Gakpo’s usual left-wing position, but he did come on at half-time. The line-up from Arne Slot wasn’t particularly effective as Crystal Palace were the better team and managed to get the win. With Ekitike potentially out injured, it does seem like Gakpo’s minutes might be a bit safer in the short term, but I would still sell him this week, as there are much better options in the midfield position right now.
Conclusion: Sell
One of those better options is Ismaïla Sarr, who came back from injury against Liverpool and immediately found the scoresheet. Since Eze’s departure, Sarr has been a much more influential figure in the Crystal Palace attack. With some nice fixtures against Everton and Bournemouth up next, I would look at the Senegalese international if you’re buying a midfielder this week.
Conclusion: Buy
